Our lovingly converted 1976 Bedford Bus is a surprisingly spacious yet cosy tiny home – it’s glamping on wheels! With a view of beautiful Bunkers Hill in exquisite Kangaroo Valley, it's the perfect place to spend a weekend out of the city. It’s a four minute drive to the popular river swimming hole under Hampden Bridge, and six minutes to the centre of Kangaroo Valley township where you’ll find the perfect cup of coffee and excellent food.

We converted "Robert Bedford" the Bedford Bus using as many recycled materials as possible and keeping eco principles in mind. It is a simple but comfortable space to relax in, with a unique vibe. Wake up to an incredible view of the famous Kangaroo Valley escarpments, have your morning coffee in the paddock and enjoy an evening wine sitting under festive lights.

Additional Information

The bus has everything you need: a fridge and single-burner cooktop for cooking, plus toaster and kettle. There's a hot shower and a chemical toilet like those you would find in an RV. (We run on beautiful fresh rain water so please be conscious of water usage.) The bus has air-conditioning and heating, or you can open the windows to catch the delightful through-breezes.

Outside, a fire pit, some lounge chairs and a small BBQ provides that country ambience. If the weather turns bad, you can bunker down indoors in the cosy bus and enjoy the sound of rain falling on the roof.

We provide 100% organic cotton sheets and towels, eco-friendly soap, shampoo, tea and coffee. There is a comfortable, plush queen bed in the bedroom and a fold out sofa bed in the living area. The bus is better suited for children over the age of six due to the bus being a bit delicate and a few square edges here and there.

Our beautiful bus is very comfortable. Like all vintage spaces, it has its quirks; please be aware of these. We describe a stay here as ‘bus-king’: not quite camping, not quite cottage.

Please note there is no wifi but very good mobile and 4G reception.

The bus has a paddock all of its own! There's a farm gate and driveway directly to where the bus lives. The area around the neighbouring houses are not included in this listing.

We are available to you at all times during your stay for any little questions you may have! We know the local area super well so can help out with ideas for what to do. Feel free to give us a call!

Rock climbing in Kangaroo Valley and Nowra

Carlos, otherwise known as "Papa" is one part of the 2 couples who own Bedford and Bunker. He is an avid rock climber who has climbed every piece of climbable rock in the surrounding area! He has loads of insider info about where to go and what time of day/year to go there. He has even developed and bolted a few of his own small areas within the Valley which are still secret spots - we would love to share those spots with our guests who are interested in rock climbing....

Horse Riding through the Valley

Sara, one part of the 2 couples that own Bedford and Bunker is a keen horse rider. You can meet her friendly horses that live next door if you happen to have a carrot with you. Sara recommends Kangaroo Valley Horses for an amazing trail ride through a beautiful property about half an hour away. You'll go through farmland, across perfect little creeks and into beautiful bushland....

Bushwalking in the Valley

Ella, one part of the 2 couples that owns Bedford and Bunker, is a keen bushwalker and adventurer. She recommends the 3 Views Walk and Drawing Room Rocks for amazing views over the surrounding Valleys. For experienced bushwalkers who want a challenge, she thinks you should have a crack at McPhails Trail. It heads straight up Mt Carrialoo! The walk can be accessed from Jacks Corner Rd - its pretty hard! Griffins Fire Trail heads into Morton National Park and is also lovely walk for those who want a bit of a workout....

Swimming in the Kangaroo River

Mickey, one part of the 2 couples that own Bedford and Bunker, loves to be immersed in nature and what better way to do that then be literally immersed in the river that carved out this ancient Valley. His 2 favourite spots for a swim are Flat Rock waterhole in Upper River which is his happy place and a great place for a real swim in cool deep waters. His second recommendation is under the historic Hampden Bridge in town. Park at the carpark next to the bridge and walk down to the river. Take a blow up if you want to ride the "rapids"....

Kangaroo Valley
I am the best greenie I can be, love to explore, and hang out in green spaces with my husband and kids. I love horse riding, kayaking, cooking, eating and (unapologetically) Billy Crystal movies. We moved out of the city 4 years ago and have never looked back. We adore living in this amazing ancient Valley which is filled with beauty every way you look. It's so nice to be able share that now with people in this unique space which makes the experience of the Valley even more special.

No words to describe how unreal this place is. Pictures look great but reality is nothing to compare. This bus is like a dream, owners took care about every single detail making it cosy, eco friendly and just perfect. Its even hard to leave the bus feels like you want to stay there forever, enjoy the view on the stunning mountains though the windows. We spend there 2 nights and couldn't imagine it better. In the evenings sitting around the fire and looking at the sky full of starts is just so relaxed. The owners are such a beautiful people happy to help and make sure that everything is ok. They are happy to share they knowledge about the area which was very helpful.

I would confidently say this place is a prefect gateway and would highly recommend to anyone who loves being around nature.

Thank you so much Sara and Carlos.

Spent an awesome 2 nights at the Bedford and Bunker with my partner and my dog Lenny. We put our feet up with cheese and drinks on the first night under the stars, and surrounded by fairy lights. We also set up a camp fire and roasted marshmellows. The bus is surrounded by beautiful scenery located on farm land with near by horses. Close enough to the ocean for a day trip yet far enough away to escape technology (as there was minimal reception and no TV...bliss). We escaped into the national park for hikes and went for a dip up at Flat rock swimming hole. Sara was a super great host and gave us heaps of activity ideas along with restaurant options. She was just a text away. Loved it....
