Our lovingly converted 1976 Bedford Bus is a surprisingly spacious yet cosy tiny home – it’s glamping on wheels! With a view of beautiful Bunkers Hill in exquisite Kangaroo Valley, it's the perfect place to spend a weekend out of the city. It’s a four minute drive to the popular river swimming hole under Hampden Bridge, and six minutes to the centre of Kangaroo Valley township where you’ll find the perfect cup of coffee and excellent food.

We converted "Robert Bedford" the Bedford Bus using as many recycled materials as possible and keeping eco principles in mind. It is a simple but comfortable space to relax in, with a unique vibe. Wake up to an incredible view of the famous Kangaroo Valley escarpments, have your morning coffee in the paddock and enjoy an evening wine sitting under festive lights.

Additional Information

BUS DETAILS
The bus has everything you need: a fridge and single-burner cooktop for cooking, plus toaster and kettle. There's a hot shower and a chemical toilet like those you would find in an RV. (We run on beautiful fresh rain water so please be conscious of water usage.) The bus has air-conditioning and heating, or you can open the windows to catch the delightful through-breezes.

Outside, a fire pit, some lounge chairs and a small BBQ provides that country ambience. If the weather turns bad, you can bunker down indoors in the cosy bus and enjoy the sound of rain falling on the roof.

We provide 100% organic cotton sheets and towels, eco-friendly soap, shampoo, tea and coffee. There is a comfortable, plush queen bed in the bedroom and a fold out sofa bed in the living area. The bus is better suited for children over the age of six due to the bus being a bit delicate and a few square edges here and there.

Our beautiful bus is very comfortable. Like all vintage spaces, it has its quirks; please be aware of these. We describe a stay here as ‘bus-king’: not quite camping, not quite cottage.

Please note there is no wifi but very good mobile and 4G reception.

Guest Access
The bus has a paddock all of its own! There's a farm gate and driveway directly to where the bus lives. The area around the neighbouring houses are not included in this listing.

Interaction with Guests
We are available to you at all times during your stay for any little questions you may have! We know the local area super well so can help out with ideas for what to do. Feel free to give us a call!

The Local Area
Kangaroo Valley is often described as one of the most beautiful towns in NSW with its incredible escarpments, creeks, rivers and farms. It's the perfect place for some time away to reconnect with everything. The Valley offers bushwalking, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, horse riding, cycling, mountain biking, quaint shops and top quality food. The bus is located in Barrengarry which is the northern end of Kangaroo Valley.

Other things to note
The bus is located in a paddock all of its own on a family farm. You may see our family out and about on the farm from time to time - riding our horses or doing some weeding! Feel free to say hi! There is also a house behind the bus which is currently under construction - they don't usually do any work on the weekends and otherwise its generally pretty quiet. Your view is forward towards the mountains anyway!

This Grade 4 hike is an absolute must when visiting the area... But please, don't make the mistake I did by wearing my Birkenstock sandals... Rock Climbing In Kangaroo Valley And Nowra

Carlos, otherwise known as "Papa" is one part of the 2 couples who own Bedford and Bunker. He is an avid rock climber who has climbed every piece of climbable rock in the surrounding area! He has loads of insider info about where to go and what time of day/year to go there. He has even developed and bolted a few of his own small areas within the Valley which are still secret spots - we would love to share those spots with our guests who are interested in rock climbing....

Horse Riding Through The Valley

Sara, one part of the 2 couples that own Bedford and Bunker is a keen horse rider. You can meet her friendly horses that live next door if you happen to have a carrot with you. Ella, one part of the 2 couples that owns Bedford and Bunker, is a keen bushwalker and adventurer. She recommends the 3 Views Walk and Drawing Room Rocks for amazing views over the surrounding Valleys. For experienced bushwalkers who want a challenge, she thinks you should have a crack at McPhails Trail. It heads straight up Mt Carrialoo! The walk can be accessed from Jacks Corner Rd - its pretty hard! Griffins Fire Trail heads into Morton National Park and is also lovely walk for those who want a bit of a workout....

Swimming In The Kangaroo River

Mickey, one part of the 2 couples that own Bedford and Bunker, loves to be immersed in nature and what better way to do that then be literally immersed in the river that carved out this ancient Valley. His 2 favourite spots for a swim are Flat Rock waterhole in Upper River which is his happy place and a great place for a real swim in cool deep waters. His second recommendation is under the historic Hampden Bridge in town. Park at the carpark next to the bridge and walk down to the river. Take a blow up if you want to ride the "rapids"....

I am the best greenie I can be, love to explore, and hang out in green spaces with my husband and kids. I love horse riding, kayaking, cooking, eating and (unapologetically) Billy Crystal movies. We moved out of the city 4 years ago and have never looked back. We adore living in this amazing ancient Valley which is filled with beauty every way you look. It's so nice to be able share that now with people in this unique space which makes the experience of the Valley even more special.

My daughter and I had a great time staying in the converted bus, Bedford and Bunker. The bus is very comfortable and decorated nicely and we loved cooking over the open fire and looking at the stunning views of the lush valley and mountain ranges. Where the bus is located is very quiet and peaceful, and the local chickens are very friendly! The host Sara and her daughter were very welcoming and hospitable. I'd definitely recommend Bedford and Bunker to family and friends wanting a relaxing and unique getaway!...

Bedford & Bunker blends the best of country and coastal living, nestled in amongst the rolling hills of the Kangaroo Valley. This little escape is the perfect medicine for getting out of the city with a loved one, and soaking in all this beautiful part of the world has to offer.

The bus is absolutely charismatic and spills with personality, leaving you wanting to come back again and again.

We had the best weekend staying at Bedford and Bunker. The bus is super cute and quirky and really has everything you need for a chilled out weekend away. The view from the bed was amazing and definitely gave us every excuse we needed to switch off, relax and enjoy the peaceful country side.

Sara was so friendly and gave us some good spots to check out too. Flat Rock is an awesome swimming hole and the Yarrawa Winery was so cute - literally in the owners backyard!

Would definitely recommend Bedford and Bunker if you are wanting to switch off, relax and unwind!
