Additional Information

OFF-GRID LIVING
The cabin has a double bed that looks out to the stars, and room to camp for sleeping. It has a comfortable living space with couches a 3 burner gas cook top, solar power provides the cabin with lighting, hot outdoor shower and cold water indoor sink, a composting outhouse toilet and outdoor fire places (please respect fire ban regulations) perfect for BBQs are also on the property.

The shack is perfect for fishing, exploring the Hawkesbury by boat or canoe, al fresco dining and relaxing. For people who enjoy getting back to nature but appreciate more space and luxuries than a tent. Better than a campsite though as you have the place to yourself! This is our retreat, but happy to share with like minded people. As it is camping we ask guests to bring their own sleeping bags or sheets and towels. There is no cleaning fee so please leave it as you found it.

Please note we have no electricity but we do have solar, we have limited running water from a tank so please bring your own water. There is a pot stove fire inside and a fireplace outside with a hot plate. Wood for the fire can be bought from the Spencer Village Store. Inside there is also a Gas stove – if Gas gets low please let us know so we can replace it. There will be a spare canister under the sink. Turn gas on and use matches to light. Make sure gas is turned off after you finish with it. Please be careful. The Kitchen – we have gas hotplates, pots, pans, an icebox for keeping food and drinks (please bring your own ice!), crockery, cutlery + glasses.

- Phone signal works the best on Telstra and Vodafone. However most networks get coverage on the deck or up the hill. Walk out the front door and straight ahead away from the house. Reception gets better the higher you go.
- We have a solar panel so a small USB charger can charge phones/speakers etc.
- We also have a running sink and an outdoor hot shower - please use water sparingly.

The bed upstairs is only accessible by climbing a ladder.

Compost toilet only - read instructions on the wall.

Food Supplies – It’s better to bring everything with you as the property is reasonably remote. However you are welcome to help yourself to the store cupboard which has basic supplies of oil, vinegar; S&P; spices and herbs. Spencer shop (5-10 min drive in direction of the Newcastle freeway) is your closest for emergency supplies. Open 8.30-5pm. Next closest would be general stores at Mangrove Mountain and Wisemans Ferry (better) where you can get petrol as well.

Advisable to bring Mosquito repellent. The river is a 5 min drive away, it is tidal so the water level will go up and down. The tide can be quite strong. Boats can be hired from Wisemans Ferry and Brooklyn. If you have your own boat there is a ramp at Spencer.
- Great walks - property is in Dharug National Park
- Swimming Hole - emerald pool in mangrove creek and also the River near Mangrove Creek yoga Centre
- Great pubs - Wiseman's Ferry pub (20 min drive), St Albans (40 min drive), or the tree at the Village store (BYO)
- Steep climb, bush building, not suitable for unsupervised children

- THIS IS A SHACK. NOT A HOTEL. OFF GRID! Be open-minded, this a campsite with privileges, you enter this natural reality at your own risk.

Absolutely beautiful, impressive and relaxing! My partner and I spent two marvellous nights in the Bush Shack. We found the place well stocked for off grid living, with easy access to cooking and bathroom facilities. The shack is beautiful, filled with lovely nic nacks and a crackin’ fireplace that would make for a perfectly toasty winter retreat. Hosts were very helpful and accommodating as well as super friendly. Would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking for a relaxed and unique experience....

The shack was cute and looked like the pictures. It was very warm and cosy. We were unable to get the solar lights to work and there didn’t seem to be any water....

This is a wonderful retreat space. Hidden amongst the trees, it was a lovely spot to disconnect from the 'noise'. The Shack has all you need for cooking, we enjoyed both the outdoor and indoor fireplace. The mosquito net is a big help. Would've been ideal to know about how to sort solar generator and water before going (had to message mid-stay), though we survived without it.
Be prepared for the uphill walk from the road to the shack, not ideal for anyone with injuries etc.
All-in-all, wonderful time in a cute little abode. Thanks for the stay :)
