Liptrap Loft

Liptrap Loft is a large shack built from recycled timber and tin. Set on five acres, it is surrounded on all sides by bushland, with distant views across neighbouring farm land.

The house was built by Jim Commadeur, a man of unusual talents. Some say he was a builder and cabinet maker, others say a piano maker and champion runner - but all agree that he was a pedantic master craftsman.

Liptrap Loft is unique and rustic. If you are a "5 star - no less!" type of person, it probably wont be for you. Please make sure it is your 'cup of tea' before booking.

Travel to Victoria's much-loved Wilsons Promontory to explore secluded pristine beaches and coastal forests set alongside the backdrop of the National Park's granite mountains. Head off on one of the many walks and look out for native birds as well as kangaroos, emus, wombats and echidnas.

A range of hiking opportunities are available at the prom, from taking in pristine beaches, temperate rainforest, towering sand dunes or lookouts offering spectacular panoramic views.

Squeaky Beach has no lifesavers, but is also a popular spot for surfers and families, who come to hear the grains of quartz squeaking under their feet as they walk on dry sand.

Picnic Bay Beach is accessed by a steep track that leads down to the beach, which has rock formations at both ends offering a range of rock pool habitats to explore. Surf lifesavers do not operate at this beach.

Whisky Bay Beach is sheltered and features rock formations at both ends. The access track passes through a gully and follows a small creek before passing over a sand dune to the beach.

Tidal River is a reasonably exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf. Good conditions are produced with an offshore wind from the northeast. Can be busy during summer months.

You will find the Darby River on your drive into Wilsons Promontory. The river winds it's way with views of the mountains before flowing into Whisky Bay. Tidal River is located within Wilsons Promontory National Park and flows into Norman Bay....

Explore Victoria's largest coastal wilderness area - Wilsons Promontory National Park. The Prom is a 50,000-hectare reserve filled with a range of walking tracks filled with native wildlife including emus, wombats, kangaroos, echidnas and brightly coloured birds like rosellas. Discover pristine beaches, lush fern gullies and impressive rock formations....

I live in Anglesea with my husband and two children 8 and 5. I work just one day a week in Coronary Care at Geelong Hospital. The rest of my time is divided between being a mum and running our busy holiday rental business Dufflebird. Dufflebird was born out of my love of travel, weekend getaways and seeking refuge from urban life. I have always adored the buzz of an experience-rich urban life while paradoxically relished the joys of seeking refuge from it. I grew up in the country and feel nurtured and alive in nature. My favourite travel destinations are Alaska and NYC (and I have lived and worked in both). At one point I alternated between the two and absolutely loved the experience of that contrast.

From out the outset Fleur was awesome with all the extra info she provided about the area.

The accommodation itself was exactly what we were looking for. It was rustic yet had all the creature comforts we'd want.

Massive foodies we were also really impressed with everything in the kitchen and the BBQ.

We'll definitely be coming back!

A great weekend away with perfect weather. There’s lots to do around the area including heading down to the Prom or just relax to the sounds of birds and the resident koala. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy Liptrap Loft.....
