Hanging Rock Llama Treks - Day Walk

Experience in Trentham , VIC
100% Recommended
Hanging Rock Llama Treks provides a one of a kind experience with unique animals.

Trek with only a Light Day Pack
On a llama trek you can hike the beautiful and serene locations of the Macedon Ranges and Hepburn Shire carrying only a light day pack. On our llama trips, you hike in comfort and yet see and experience the Australian bush in a very adventurous way.

Great Trail Companions
Llamas make great hiking companions, and in fact the relationship goes far beyond them simply transporting your supplies. Llamas are naturally curious and very aware of their surroundings, often the first to spot wildlife along the trail. They enjoy new sights and become very much a partner in your adventure.

Very Low Impact
Llamas leave no more impact than a hiker. Horses are notorious for tearing up trails which leads to erosion. One of the great benefits of hiking with llamas is you get the same benefit as a pack horse, but without causing damage to our surroundings.

We hope you’ll come out and experience first-hand the joy of hiking these incredible landscapes with llamas as your companions.

What’s Required of You?
Honestly, not much other than a desire for adventure, hiking, a love for stunning bush scenery, and a willingness to bond with a very unique and cool animal. We love them, and we think you will too.

We do conduct a llama orientation before we hit the trail. At that time we’ll educate you on how to lead your llama, how to protect them, and what to watch out for while on the trail.

Amazing experience - I highly recommend Hanging Rock Llama Treks! My wife and I loved it. Mark is an excellent instructor, he is very passionate about his Llamas and ensures that you have a great time. You also learn a lot about llamas! The llamas are individuals - they all have names and their own personalities. It doesn't take long to bond with these lovely creatures! The walk itself is varied and takes you through the amazing Australian bush lands and rail trails. We stopped at Trentham for lunch, a pretty country town with pubs and bakery. A unique experience that we will never forget! Thanks Mark!...

The best activity to do that involves exercise, animals, great scenery and good food.

This is absolutely the best activity!! We had such as great day walking the Domino Trail from Lyonville to Trentham with our new Llama friends Jaro and Chilli.

Our host and guide Mark was great and the Llamas on our journey were fantastic – all with very different personalities. The Llamas were easy to walk and Mark takes you through the basics.

The trail itself is very easy to do as it is flat most of the way, however the scenery does vary as you go through the bush. There is plenty of time to stop and take photos or get a drink break, as the Lamas are not the fastest walkers, and they like to stop for their own toilet breaks along the way!

We opted for the launch stop at the Plough hotel in Trentham – it was an absolute delight and highly recommended!

Overall it was a great day and an activity that we would highly recommend to any of our friends.
