Explore, Eat, Cabin, Repeat

Finally on the road after the work week, my wife Ariella, our pup Koko and I set off to the cabin at Kevington. We arrived late afternoon at the beautiful log cabin to the peaceful sounds of the running river and that instant feeling of recharge that being out in nature offers.

We spent the next few days exploring the Jamieson River in kayaks, the mountains nearby via four wheel drive and hiking up to some historic locations, such as the old gold mine situated up the hill and across the road from the cabin. We left feeling totally satisfied with our adventures and refreshed by the elements.

The cabin is the perfect place to unwind and get back to nature. The amenities provided are above and beyond, along with the beautiful rooms, the extra things such as fishing gear, board games, fire place and the wooden tent by the river which you can sleep in and really take in the surrounding landscape.

  • Food & Drink

  • Kayak
Old Gold Mines
Hike up to the old gold mines to see some of the area’s history. The track starts right across the road from the cabin and is quite a steep track but well worth it....
Craig's Hut
Craig's Hut on Mt Stirling is about a 2 hour drive from the cabin, mostly accessible with a 2 wheel drive, but we took the 4x4 out for the day and drove the tracks around Mount Stirling. We packed lunch and took in the absolutely epic scenery!!...
Delitite Wines
Delitite Wines is back towards Mansfield around a half hour. Tasted some amazing local wine with a view over the mountains and met some of the locals....
Fishing on your doorstep.
Fishing in the river out the back of the cabin, managed to hook up on a couple of brown trout but couldn’t quite hang on to them long enough to claim the catch!...
Kayak on the Jamieson and Goulburn Rivers.
Kayak on the Jamieson River, about 10kms down the road. See Tom at the Jamieson Caravan Park who will rent you some kayaks. He sent us down stream to take in a different perspective, and picked us up to take us back to our car....
Kevington Pub (temporarily closed)
The Kevington Hotel is just a 5 minute walk down the road and is a great place for a beer and a feed. Get the garlic cob loaf! (as of January 2021 the pub is closed)...
