Summer's Last Hoorah

Sunny beaches, warm fires and an amazing ocean. Those three things pretty easily sum up our trip but at the same time, words just don't do it justice at all. What started out to be a beginning of winter getaway turned out to be the best way to say "catchya later" to summer. The Bluey’s Beach Shack was an unreal little oasis of peace and quiet within walking distance of Bluey’s Beach and just a short drive to many other amazing beaches and awesome little adventures. I was definitely in need of a relaxing getaway that felt remote but convenient and the shack was all of that.

From arrival to departure we were all amazed by the property as a whole with its cleanliness and attention to detail. The fireplace was great for the colder nights and we definitely got good use out of that! It's so close to the beach, in just a few minutes walk you're on the sand. All of those are reasons why I'd book it again!

Climbing the headland at Cellito
This headland is nothing short of incredible. The jagged rocks sticking out of the headland look like something out of a movie scene! The beach itself is stunning with a rainforest walk to enter onto the beach, clear water and the headland for some awesome views. If you keep climbing around the headland and aren't too scared of heights, there's a great spot to sit and dangle your legs out over a huge cliff drop into the ocean! Well worth doing....
Hiking Bluey's Headland
This hike is right down the road from the house! We left the shack and within 5 minutes we were at the foot of the headland at the southern end of the beach. There is a path leading from the beach and up through a cow paddock which takes you right to the top of the hill. It has an incredible outlook over Bluey's and Smiths Lake! The walk up is steep and seemingly goes forever but so worth it....
Kembali Cafe
For those moments when you're just not feeling like making coffee or breakfast, Kembali is the go to. It's a mad little cafe with good vibes all round and the food is actually unreal!...
Bluey's SUP session
Bluey's Beach is known for being both a great surf beach and also not being too rough (depending on the weather and swell). The day we arrived we took a SUP board and some surfboards (one surfboard is included in the property) down to the beach and it was so much fun! Everyone had a blast paddling around through the ocean and you've got easy access to the rock pools at the base of the southern headland as well....
Sunset at The Recky
If you want a good beer, some great food and the most insane sunset, head to "The Recky". After many locals recommended it, we decided to end our trip by sipping beers and watching the sunset and it couldn't have been better! The staff there are really great and they often have live music going on the deck. A top spot to spend the afternoon!...
