Among the Gum Trees

Excited to escape the city pace, my girlfriends and I hit the road (blaring Drake and Bey on the stereo) and anticipated a weekend of rainy cosiness by the Bellarine Peninsula. We arrived early at the charming coastal town of Barwon Heads and headed straight to the Community Market to rummage through stalls and pick up some delicious produce along the way. We were instantly received with warmth from the locals which made us adore the area and eager to explore.

A five-minute drive from the town center and tucked away in an acre of secluded bushland, a private driveway lead us to two picturesque cedar cabins in ‘The Woods’. The crisp afternoon air made the piping hot spa exceptionally inviting and as we melted away we savored the light peeping through the gum trees. We prepared for a cozy night in with wine and cheese, and in the morning we woke up to the magical sounds of kookaburras and the light rumble of the ocean.

Nestled in between the seaside towns of Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads, this cedar cabin is like a Pinterest dream, styled and stocked with everything you may need. But despite its beautiful interior, its ultimate charm is you’re encouraged to step outside and embrace the many features this property has to offer, such as an outdoor kitchen, tennis court, pool, spa, golf green, alfresco eating area, bicycles, and fire pit…

Spoilt with the array of charming facilities at the cabin, we found ourselves struggling to pull away from this hidden dreamland. Yet when we finally had the heart to venture out, we spent our time admiring local produce and crafts, bike riding through the leafy back roads and exploring the vast and glorious coastlines of the Bass Strait.
