Treasure Time, at Treasure Island

While in the midst of a busy year, taking a moment to slow down time, and visit Treasure Island was literally a treasure. Taking the drive to Treasure Island was an adventure in itself. Through forested highways, over estuaries and bird-watching land, you come to a one-way bridge onto a small private island, Treasure Island.

Upon arrival you know you're in a special place. With a private beach across the road, and an incredible view of Mount Tahoma (Rainier) the Treasure Island Log Cabin is quaint but also so comfortable. All I wanted to do was settle down with a book, a movie and a cup of soup. It was the perfect stay for relaxation with a good friend. We settled in and relaxed for a bit with a fire and some of our favorite Washington ciders and enjoyed the sounds of the seals and the birds.

Close by in Allyn there is a donut shop, bird watching estuary and LARGE onion rings. We had a great time connecting with the smaller parts of the world by visiting an abandoned train track, and bird-watching trails. A great place to unwind and get away from hustle and bustle of the world.

Vance Creek Bridge is a very popular photo spot. With an incredible view of the Olympic hillsides and canyons, the Vance Creek Bridge doesn't disappoint.

BUT BEWARE and BE SAFE! It is a danger zone! Beautiful views. Let's keep it at beautiful views.

Theler Wetlands Property is a great spot for finding a peaceful area to look for birds and wildlife. I hear river otters, and coyotes can be seen there, but I only saw various types of birds and fish! There is a salmon education centre on the wetlands property, which would be so much fun with children....

Peace, Love and Donuts was a GORGEOUS little spot right buy a waterside park. So of course, I sat myself down by the river and shared a view with some great flavors. The shop employees were so friendly and welcoming and gave me great recommendations of places to go and see. They also mentioned there are often seals that hang out in front of the building!...

Big Bubbas came highly recommended to us when visiting Allyn. The recommendations said that the burgers and shakes were delicious but didn't mention the amazing onion rings. We left with big smiles and a full tummy! Great spot for a mid-day treat....
