Feelin into the Falls
Adventure in Whian Whian, North Coast, NSW, AU
As we drove into Falls Farm, we were greeted by the cutest wallabies lounging under the macadamia trees. It felt like they were welcoming us to their little paradise! Our tiny house was drenched in sunshine, perfectly positioned to look out across the lush green valley.
After dropping off our gear and enjoying a quick lunch using the freshly baked bread left by the hosts, we decided to head to Whian Whian Falls, just a minute down the road. Let me tell you, Whian Whian is one of the most incredible waterfalls I’ve ever seen, with multiple deep swimming sections and an awesome waterfall jump. We floated around, cooling off while watching the dragonflies flit about - it was pure bliss!
As the sun began to set, we poured ourselves some wine, made a delightful nibble board, lit the fire, and ran the bath. Soaking in that epic tub while gazing at the fire and admiring the view was such a treat! We could hear deep thunder rumbling in the distance, and the clouds were darkening as the sun dipped lower. A storm was rolling in! After our relaxing bath, we cozied up by the fire for hours, watching the grey clouds flash with lightning. Just as the sun set completely, the storm hit, and we tucked ourselves up on the deck, watching the rain come in. What a dramatic and beautiful moment!
The next morning, after enjoying coffee, chai puddings, and freshly squeezed juice left by our lovely hosts, we headed straight back to Whian Whian for a morning dip. There wasn’t another soul in sight, and we explored and swam until our hearts were content! Later that day we had lunch out at The Channon pub and took a walk around the beautiful Rocky Creek Dam.
We felt like the best of the Byron hinterland was right on our doorstep. It was a truly special stay and one I would highly recommend....
