We packed the defender with our ski’s on the roof and embarked on our midweek adventure out of Sydney - being sure to stop at Some Cafe in Kollector (a great recommendation by Monique).
Wildflowers dotted the mountains on the windy drive into the national park, but it’s when we spot roadside snow that the buzz kicks in - there’s a shared sensation that we’re in for a good time.
The cedar cabin is a snazzy slumber that’s quite rare on Australian fields - it’s raw and refined. The view through the main window of the mountain is that of a moving picture. It’s so impressive it feels surreal. We loved all the finer details too, from consideration of design in architecture and loft style layout to quality of furniture and pieces. It all made for an unforgettable stay. You can’t go past exposed timbers and a bath for two!
After a long day on the slopes and a chill in the air, the cabin was a cosy place to return to indulge in a glass of local red or a frangelico and lime with fresh snow on the balcony to watch the sunset over the lake that runs through the village.
Once the sun goes down, it’s après ski time. The village transforms into a vibrant alpine environment with live music, bars and events.
But this village isn’t just a winter destination - during the other seasons you can mountain bike, hike to Australia’s highest peak or fish for trout in the rivers....
