Echoes of Gold

Call me biased, but I reckon this land down-under of ours makes for the best damn backyard in the world! Jamieson, or Jammo as it's affectionately known, just three hours out of Melbourne, is the kind of place that so compellingly reminds me of this.

Through hills and bushland, we drove to reach our stone cottage on the river bend. As we stepped out of the car, our workdays instantly faded from memory, we became aware of a sky full of stars above us and the sound of the river gently flowing beside the property; a recipe for instant calm in anyone's language!

Our weekend at the country-styled cottage amidst old gold mining land was made all the better by our fur-child being able to join us! The three of us whiled away the sunny days on the Goulburn River with the highlight being our tubing adventure on 'the Tunnel Bend Drift'! We jumped in the freshwater at the edge of the property, floated around the scenic river bend to be brought back to where we started!

And after an afternoon of kayaking, swimming and hiking we could think of few more delightful places to savour the evening than by the campfire, toasting marshmallows and counting shooting stars. To switch off from the outside world, get amongst the trees and be truly present with those you love. I really don't think there's anything better!
