Bespoke dreams of ocean scenes

We set off on a Friday morning for a long-deserved break in our home of Victoria. It had been a while since we explored the Great Ocean Rd, so we were excited to unwind from a busy week working the corporate grind.

When we reached our accommodation, we were greeted with a beautiful ocean view in the distance with the hills surrounding us. Our stay was clean, cosy, peaceful, and just what we were looking for. The rain set in for the day so we took advantage of the little fireplace inside the caravan, got some cheese out and had a few glasses of red.

The next morning we took advantage of the somewhat clear skies and headed towards the 12 Apostles. We had a beautiful sunrise at Gibson Steps then made our way to the 12 Apostles where the wind started to set in as well as the clouds. We spent half of the day taking photos of the amazing surrounds and then made our way to the Cape Otway Lighthouse.

The drive-in had so many Koala's on the treetops; it was like a Koala sanctuary. After eating some fresh scones at the Cape Otway Cafe, we headed back to Apollo Bay and stopped by the Apollo Bay Fisherman's Co-op where I got some fresh Lobster and Katie enjoyed her fish n chips.

The next morning the sky was clear, and Katie made great use of the outdoor bath admiring the views and sounds of the ocean and birds around us. After an excellent breakfast, we were on our way back home, but we had another stop on the road. We visited a Raspberry farm in the Otway's and picked a few punnets of fresh berries then headed home. It was a weekend of pure relaxation, exploration and fantastic food with the best company and accommodation anyone could ask for.

Gibson Steps
Gibson Steps is one of your first main stops on the way to 12 Apostles from Apollo Bay. You can access the beach from the carpark by walking down the scenic cliff staircase which only takes a couple of minutes. From the bottom, you'll be able to experience the cliff face and rock formations up close and personal....
12 Apostles
The 12 Apostles is your second stop on the way to Port Campbell from Apollo Bay. The short 5min walk from the carpark takes you to Victoria's most beautiful coastal views that are world-renowned.
This spot is best viewed at any time of the day, but if you want a beautiful glow on the rock formations, then it's best served at sunset.
Pennyroyal Raspberry Farm
A great Raspberry picking farm that operates over the summer. The Raspberries are delicious, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. It's only an hour out of Apollo Bay, so you can either choose to pick fresh berries on the way to your accommodation or on the way back home....
Cape Otway Lighthouse
Only a 40min drive from Apollo Bay, the Cape Otway lighthouse provides a beautiful scenic walk with ocean cliff views. There's plenty of Koala's on the journey in so drive slow and enjoy the wildlife. It's also a great spot to stop for lunch and get some freshly made scones....
Apollo Bay Fisherman's Co-Op
Visit here for some of the freshest seafood and fish n chips in the state. You can either buy your seafood fresh or they can cook it for you. The grilled lobster and chips were absolutely amazing!...
