Glam Camp

Rain or shine, the Soulpad 5m Bell Tent really can handle any weather! We arrived on Saturday and were welcomed by heavy rain, and luckily the Soulpad is so comfortable and well equipped that we got to enjoy space and relax, playing cards and reading a book while listening to the rainfall.

By 8 am the rain had stopped so we turned on the bbq for a quick breakfast, before jetting off to my favourite place in Victoria, Wilson's Promontory.

The entrance of the Prom is only a 10 mins drive away from Soulpad. The weather held off for the morning, so we got to explore sand dunes, beaches, and hike to some beautiful spots around the Prom, before heading back to the Tent for more relaxing. The sky cleared again in the afternoon, and we decided to check out the beach just at our doorsteps.

Things We Did

  • Walk
  • Hike
  • Lookout
  • River
  • Beach
Follow the Three Bays Walk
Starting from Tidal River's footbridge, follow the path that takes you to the three most famous beaches in Wilson's Promontory, Squeaky Beach, Picnic Bay, and Whisky Bay. This walk takes four hours to complete, and the views are stunning. Try organising pick-up from Whisky Bay to return to Tidal River....
Explore the sand dunes
These sand dunes are way more vast than they look on the map!
Park your car at the entrance of the Prom and walk for 2 km following the signs. The landscape here is so beautiful, so take your time to explore around but be careful not to get lost.
Spot the nearby islands
On your drive to or from Tidal River, don't forget to quickly stop your car to enjoy the view at one of the lookouts you'll find on the way....
Spot a wombat!
From Norman Bay, follow the little river on the right up to Whale rock until you reach the footbridge. Here you can decide to proceed left for more hiking with a good chance to spot wombats (this was the first time we didn't see one, sigh) and beautiful birds or keep following the path on the right along the river. The walk brings you back at Tidal River General store....
Cool off in Yanakie Beach
Just outside your Bell tent, there are a few steps that take you down to Yanakie beach. If the tide is low, walk or swim around to reach other small secluded beaches....
