Peaceful getaway in the Wild Valley

After a long week at work, we hopped in the car and drove towards the stunning Blue Mountains, excited about the prospect of hiking all weekend in the sunshine.

It was dark and cold when we arrived but the fire in the studio immediately got us cosy and warm. It is only the next morning that we realised just how beautiful Wild Valley Art Park is. Tucked away at the bottom of a valley, the property is a bush lover’s dream, dotted with blooming wattle trees and conveniently close to Wentworth Falls, yet secluded and peaceful.

We had a slow morning in the studio, enjoying the scenery and the thoughtful touches left by our host Selena: croissants, coffee, fruit, and even eggs, we had everything for a delicious breakfast, which we enjoyed outside in the company of the many birds that like to visit.

Red Gum studio is the perfect place to switch off and recharge and we would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves nature and needs a getaway from the city.

Hit the trails in Wentworth Falls
The Blue Mountains feature some of the best hikes, and Wentworth fall is no exception. With lots of entry and exit points, you can choose one of the many loops such as the “Cliff Tops track” or the National pass or, like we did, go on a “choose your own adventure” type of hike by mixing the tracks up. From lush gullies with tumbling waterfalls to impressive sandstone cliffs, there is something for everyone and all abilities. We would recommend going to the bottom of the iconic Wentworth Falls and check out the many lookouts along the way....
Breakfast at Fed Cafe
Recommended by our host Selena, this charming little cafe did not disappoint. Right in the middle of picturesque Wentworth Falls, Fed has great coffee, cakes, pastries, salads, pies and a yummy selection of sandwiches, which we had before our hike. We liked it so much that we went back a second time for breakfast and it was just as good. The service is quick and the staff are friendly. We loved the homemade salsa and the original items on the varied menu such as the salmon cake. A must!...
Go for a stroll and a picnic at Wentworth Falls Lake
Wentworth Falls lake is perfect for an easy and relaxing stroll. There is a short track that goes along the lake as well as plenty of grassed areas for a picnic. Or why not bring a hot coffee or tea to enjoy on a cold day like we did?...
Go treasure hunting at Wild Valley Art Park
Wild Valley art Park has beautiful artwork dotted around the place which is well worth looking at. There is also a short walk to a lookout overlooking the property. And if you’re lucky you might bump into lovely host Selena and her incredibly cute and cuddly dog Lumi! The property also offers art and yoga classes which we would have loved to do if we had more time....
