TysonOut on the patio, we sit...
Adventure in Markwell, North Coast, NSW
We'd been on the road for 3.5 hours by the time we'd pulled into the timber-arched driveway of Black Wattle Cabin. The road had narrowed, and the bush towered overhead.
From the moment we stopped the car the relaxing sound of cicadas, and the warm Northerly wind transported us from suburbia, where we came from, to the tranquil, homely surrounds of Black Wattle Cabin.
Situated in the Markwell Valley, the cabin sits some 45 mins drive from the immaculate Pacific Palms Beaches, and only 10 mins drive from the closest town of Bulahdelah, just off the Pacific Highway. This little gem oozes R & R.
By late afternoon we took a stroll down to the creek where the property intersects small tracts of the Myall River; a treasure trove of greenery jostling for frontage on creek's edge. Inquisitive cows can be seen and heard from every aspect.
Right about the time you start to get goosebumps is when the sun is starting to creep behind the foliage, so we headed back to the cabin to sit on the porch nearing sunset. Bathed in golden light, it's about as iconic as you get to the Aussie dream - as the sunset transitioned the sky from every colour to black.
Not long after we'd eaten dinner, we got the fire going. Spending the rest of the evening sipping rum on the porch; thankful to in a cabin on the fringes of the bush....
