Rhythm of Nature
Adventure in O'Connell, Blue Mountains, NSW, AU
The wilderness is a healing therapy for the soul and we wouldn’t doubt that. Right after we received a GPS coordinate to find the cabin from our host, it has instantly awakened our sense of mission and excitement. We were lucky to be richly rewarded by the scenic routes through the diversely beautiful region. Once we arrived at the cabin, we were truly amazed at the majestic mountain ranges and hill view as far as our eyes can see.
The cabin itself is an off-grid which means it's relying solely on the energy generated from nature. The exterior was such a harmonic combination between dark and rustic. The fire pit, BBQ and the outside dining area were so inviting with an uninterrupted view. Inside there was a loft-style bed with sky window, kitchen with breakfast bar, green loo, and a living area with an indoor fireplace that was connected to the deck with an ever-changing view.
The green and blue colour hues with mesmerising skies immediately transformed us into a world of surreal painting. We stepped outside for a leisurely walk strolling the property spreading across 650 acres. The wildflowers, birds calling softly to one another, and the cows growling restlessly keeping our sense of wonder alive. The descending sun fills the whole world with a hazy warm light, meaning it’s time to build a fire for warmth along with delicious BBQ for dinner. We sat by our deck marvelling the sunset glow constantly bursting its beauty.
As dusk settled in, starry skies began to sparkle. We were amazed at the brilliance of the stars and the beauty of the crescent. I had this sudden feeling of smallness as I pictured us sitting on the deck together. It was a strong and rare sense of completeness in a world that is always communicating incompleteness.
The next morning, after a delicious breakfast and coffee, we went to explore the Oberon area, from a sapphire looking lake to a rewarding hike, Oberon has so much natural beauty to offer. We spent most of our days on the property. Slowing down in life and appreciating its simplicity.
We need physical rhythms like these in our life to connect us back to the land, that encourages us to think about the necessities of life in a simpler manner and develop a sense of gratitude for the presence of mother nature....
