Hee Hawing Around
Saturday morning was all about the donkeys. I never knew how gentle, inquisitive, and cuddly these guys were. A couple of cheeky donkeys were very keen to meet us as we walked down the hill, and I had a 3 month old come and nuzzle her head into my shoulder, it was such an amazing experience. Deb and John also introduced us to their five other friendly dogs, two miniature cows and kangaroo! Much to our surprise they all hang together as a happy family, the kangaroo even uses the doggy door to hop inside and sit by fire. Hunger had settled in by midday, so we took a drive down to the Yarra Valley to do some wine tasting and food grazing at Giant Steps winery, then drove back to the Hut through the Black Spur. This would have to be one of my favourite Victorian drives- the ferns and trees on this road are absolutely stunning, it's a very unique location. Saturday night a storm quite literally swept through the Victorian Highlands, which was a perfect scenario for us as we listened to the rain and howling wind, and felt extra cosy by our roaring indoor fire. Of course the wine and cheese were back on the table.
Sunday morning was spent enjoying bacon, eggs, and banana pancakes just before we set off home. Hee Haw Hut literally had everything we needed to relax, explore, cook and enjoy our time away from the city grind, helping us feel rested and rejuvenated....
