Bubbles and Stars

We arrived at the vineyard right at golden hour. As we drove in, we admired the gorgeous vines showered in the orange sunset. We are greeted by the incredibly friendly and welcoming host who showed us to the most unique accommodation we had ever seen: The Bubble Tent. It was so exciting to unzip and explore and we couldn't wait to sleep under the stars!

The first glimpse from our tent was watching a stunning sunset over the vineyard, with the beautiful blue of Cooks Beach in the background. We dropped off our bags and were pleasantly surprised to find our own private hang-out zone right near where our kitchen and bathroom were. The view from the deck was the perfect place to perch ourselves with a wine from the vineyard and relax after our drive. We were tired from a hot day so we hopped into bed to watch the amazing star show on offer, and it did not disappoint.

We were woken up nice and early by the sounds of the birds chirping and the beautiful sunrise over the vineyard. We decided to have a shower in the amazing outdoor setting which gave us that taste of outdoor glamping that we desired. We were delighted to find the host had supplied some fresh sourdough bread and jams so we made a nice breakfast and planned our day whilst overlooking the beach. We took the host's recommendation and headed down to Cooks Beach and walked through native bush to a beautiful hidden gem known as Lonely Bay, which was a secluded beach with white limestone cliffs and caves to explore.

After a gorgeous day at the beach, we were hungry and hopped on the ferry just eight minutes away to go to our favourite restaurant 'Stoked' in Whitianga (we think they have the best mussels in the world, so we go here whenever we get the chance!). On our way home, we passed the local tennis courts and had a game while the sun set. Tired, full and happy, we tucked ourselves into bed and got ready for another incredible star gazing session.

We woke up early the next day to go on a kayaking tour just 10 minutes away, which took us from Hahei Beach to Cathedral Cove. We had huge snappers come up to us, which was a first, and so cool to see them up close. We arrived at Cathedral Cove where our guide made us coffees on the beach and we explored the magical cave and waterfall. We return to the vineyard for an Italian style platter and wine tasting, made by the lovely Sardinian and Kiwi couple who hosted our accommodation. This was one of our favourite experiences of the trip and the perfect way to end the perfect stay.
