One Step Away from Heaven

We had no idea what was waiting for us...

At the end of a beautiful country road lies the most breathtaking hideaway, nestled amongst the Manuka trees with views spanning from Kuaotunu to Great Barrier Island. We arrived on a sunny afternoon, the air was hot and the breeze was very welcomed. Settling in the first thing we noticed was the silence, not a car, plane or boats could be heard. It had been a while since we'd experienced such peacefulness, we felt instantly relaxed in our new home for a few days.

The evenings were spent soaking up the sun and making simple dinners on the bbq. Kuaotunu is one of those special places in the Coromandel that gets to experience the sunset and let me tell you, it is really something else from up there. The days were spent exploring the surrounding beaches and bike trails around the area. We were lucky to have the most perfect weather, making decisions on where to spend the day that much harder! However, you can't really go wrong here.

This intimate escape is perfect for two, looking to escape the city and reconnect with nature.

One of New Zealand's most loved beaches, for good reason. A 20-30min walk around the rocks of Whangapoa Beach transports you to a stunning oasis. The sand is golden and the water is crystal clear. If it wasn't for the towering sand stone cliffs you'd think you were in the tropics!...

If you're around Kuaotunu on a hot sunny day, this one is for you. The Kuaotunu Store is renowned for its massive ice creams. They've got all the classics and they do not skimp on the scoops! If you're feeling particularly in the mood and can't decide on a flavour, might I suggest the Kuaotunu Killer! A massive 5 scooper on a double cone, I've yet to personally finish one myself so here's hoping you can!...
