We had such a great stay at Rye, beautiful house which catered for our needs. We stayed with kids and they enjoyed the house and surrounds. Damian the host was very responsive and connected to make sure we settled in ok.

We had a great time at Rye Glass House. It had every thing we needed in a holiday house and the kids loved the pool!

We were really looking forward to this stay, but unfortunately the experience left us feeling uncomfortable rather than relaxed.
On our first morning, the host called me within minutes of a few fri...ends briefly stopping by to say hello. They weren’t staying overnight, just popping in before we headed out. The call was very aggressive and confrontational and left us feeling backed into a corner. It set the tone for the rest of the weekend and we ended up spending far less time at the house than planned because we were worried about being asked to leave.
It also became clear that the host had been closely watching the outdoor cameras, as he mentioned seeing our friends arrive in formal attire. After this call, we noticed that one of the cameras faced the entry and also pointed directly toward the outdoor shower. I had already used the shower before realising it was in view, which was upsetting and honestly quite invasive.
There were no internal cameras that I could see, but once we realised we were being monitored without disclosure, it was hard to feel fully at ease in the house.
It’s a beautiful property, but the way the situation was handled and the lack of transparency around the camera placement really overshadowed our stay. I’m sharing this in the hope that future guests have a clearer, more comfortable experience than we did.
HOST RESPONSE:
When it was reported by neighbours (and then verified via our security camera) that Callum had not booked our family beach house for a nature escape but instead for a wedding and reception it was my desire to cancel the booking there and then. As you will read below we respectfully ask that guests do not book our home for more than 8 guests and do not stage large scale events at our home. There are plenty of event spaces that specifically cater for a large number of guests for weddings/receptions/celebratory dinners/birthdays etc.
When Callum's partner pleaded to remain at the property and move all planned events to another house I let the group remain at Rye Glass House while still very concerned for our home, our neighbours and our short stay license. It unfortunately appears this kindness has not been reciprocated. I understand our guests' deception was exposed by neighbours and our single driveway facing external security camera and they were inconvenienced by having to change their plans. Our house rules as per below have been rewritten to address Callum's behaviour.

There are no internal security cameras at Rye Glass House, only the one external drive way facing camera. For the sake of transparency I'm sharing my review of Callum below so other hosts can avoid the very uncomfortable position we found ourselves in over the weekend.
Overall, we have had some great experiences with Riparide. Booking some amazing properties that we have been very privileged to have stayed in and sharing our special place with some like minded Riparide community guests who have left glowing reviews of their stay. Connecting with like minded and respectful community members who use our precious home to connect with nature has always been a lovely fit.
I’m afraid to report Callum did not turn out to be one of those community members. I did check Callum’s intentions when booking our home and was told he was looking to enjoy the accommodation and some local attractions. Unfortunately, we did feel quite deceived when our house rules were not abided by (it turns out Callum got married on Saturday). I would approach Callum with caution and strive for transparency to understand his true intentions, so you are not ignored, disrespected and deceived as we were. There are many event spaces available to comfortably house more than our home can for weddings/receptions/celebratory dinners and honeymoons etc.

Dimmicks Coastal Walk
We strolled the lush coastal walk to Dimmicks Beach admiring the wildness of this secluded Mornington back beach. We sat on timber bench chair, mesmerised by the rough swell crashing against the rugged rock formations forming pools and mini water falls.
Chase The Sunset
Head to one of the more westerly facing beaches to catch those golden rays across the ocean at sundown.
No 16 Hidden Clifftops
Number 16 Beach has a beautiful sandy beach to walk along, but also an easily missed track to some wild clifftop views. Such an ace spot to watch the waves roll in and smash against the cliffs. When you arrive at the car park walk back to near the entrance you'll find a gate that leads to the cliffs.

Blairgowrie Beach
My favourite hidden gem! At low-tide deep rock pools are exposed, if you’re brave jump off the giant rock into the sea.
Natural Rock Pool Swims
This spot is wild and otherworldly. We clambered the slippery seaweed covered rocks and explored the large rock formations and swam in the beautiful natural pools.

Stunning Beaches
Swimming, snorkelling, diving, fishing are just some of the amazing adventures to be had on the Mornington Peninsula.
