Redwood The Tree House

Redwood is a four level, hand crafted home, built of red cedar by master guitar maker Steve Kearney in the 1980s. It is situated in the hamlet of Nungurner on the Gippsland Lakes and is a short walk to the historic green boat shed and jetty, a popular kayaking and fishing spot.

The 'Tree House', as it's referred to by locals, is located on a gravel track with no street lights and is surrounded by eucalypts, casuarina, a silky oak and pittosporum. Sitting on the deck or looking out a window, you might feel as though you are living in the treetops, listening to birdsong or looking up at the stars on a clear night. There is no through traffic making for a peaceful and quiet location.

Built into a slope, the home has many stairs leading up to a large outdoor deck for entertaining. And then more inside from the lounge, with wood fire, up to the dining area and kitchen, with its own small deck. All bedrooms are furnished with queen size beds and fitted with cotton or linen sheets and wool quilts for comfort. We supply all linen, towels, extra pillows and blankets for your use and there is a full bath in which to luxuriate with Nicholson River soap, shampoo and conditioner.

The home has a split system for heating and cooling as well as a wood fire for winter evenings. We supply the firewood for the first night free of charge from May through October and should you require more, bags can be purchased at the Metung Village store.

As there are no shops in Nungurner, we suggest that provisions be purchased before arrival though we do supply oil, salt, pepper, spices, tea, milk and coffee. Metung, 5 minutes away by car has a general store for anything you might've forgotten and Lakes Entrance, at 15 minutes' drive, has many options from providores to supermarkets.

This home is not suited to small children or people with mobility issues as there are many levels and stairs between them inside the home and out.

Only well behaved dogs will be welcome to stay. Please advise if you intend to bring one with you to discuss the suitability of their stay. Extra charges will apply for any accidents in the home. Dogs are not permitted on the beds and furniture so please bring their bedding with you. In addition, at no point is your dog to be left in the home alone. And please make sure to pick up after them.

Charges are for two guests, extra charges apply for extra guests per night stay. Only beds booked will be made up. In addition, we ask that you leave the home as you found it on arrival.
