I want to live simply, I want to grow all the food I eat. I want to garden, to look after and be immersed in nature and to make things, not because I have something to prove but because I want to. I do not want to rush or be governed by money or clocks, or any of the false confines civilisation inflicts on itself. I just want to be kindhearted and contented, and share the bit of planet I live on with others.

A small cottage perched on top of a small hill, overlooking a running river, and lush green rainforest.
The cottage was cozy and warm upon arrival, with soft music playing in the foreground. The cottage itself had everything we needed to enjoy a 3 night stay. Plenty of books to read, comfy furniture, along with pencils and art paper to get my creative side into action!

The fireplace kept us warm all day and night during winter, the lounge outside was a lovely place to relax, listening to the river flow and watch the native birds gather.
The Nulla Nulla Creek road was beautiful to drive along, as was walking along the river. We ventured 2 hours north and explored Dorrigo and Belligen. Two beautiful towns.

Wendy is a lovely and accommodating host.
If you want to escape the 9-5, Nulla Nulla Blacksmith Retreat is for you.

I had a lovely solo stay in Wendie's cabin for two nights recently. I arrived at dusk to gentle music and a roaring fire that Wendie had put on for me. She also stocked the fridge with her veggie hamper that was on offer, which included all this amazing fresh produce she grows herself. Tall spinach, asian greens, celery, coriander, parsley, pumpkin, daikon, micro salad greens, spring onions, turmeric, ginger, and chillis.

I came back from my walk up the gorgeous country road the following day to find a jar of Wendie's famous turmeric, ginger and coriander tonic, and a couple of oranges and lemons that she gave me because I had told her I was sick. That was so sweet of her. I only had the chance to chat with Wendie briefly, but she seems so warm, kind, and genuine. If I hadn't been so sick, I would have loved to hang out with her in the garden, and pick her brain on how she lives off the land. It seems like a lot of work, but infinitely rewarding I'm sure.

On my walk up Nulla Nulla creek road, I bumped into some very friendly locals, a couple of wallabies, and many curious cows. I don't think they are used to seeing many humans walking by in this very quiet corner of the earth.

My favourite things about my stay here were Wendie's cute Saluki doggo Syrus, that kept barking whenever he saw me. Good guard doggo. The total peace and quiet. The warm cosiness of the fire. The view of the stars. The sound of the creek. The birdsong all around me. The sunset and beauty of the trees at golden hour. The luxurious deep bath tub. And having zero reception, and zero distractions.

I wish I could have this life all the time, but two nights was a good start.

This cabin is the ultimate couples retreat. Wendy had soft music playing on arrival, the fireplace stacked and ready to be lit... she is a fantastic host! Wendy helped organise a wonderful couples massage by the fireplace on arrival, and fresh juice and freshly baked loaf of bread (must have). The cabin itself is absolutely spectacular, we didn't want to leave! The creek just below the cabin is beautiful, we saw fresh water turtles! Walking along the country road is idyllic, no traffic and we enjoyed the cows next door. I have recommended this retreat to everyone who wants to disconnect from the world and just be with your loved one. We are certainty come back later in the year!!...
