Additional Information

CABIN DETAILS
Inside its fitted out with creature comforts including spacious bathroom with rain shower, open plan living area, comfy bed and quality linen, great sound system, gourmet kitchen with espresso coffee machine.

Kitchen has all the space and amenities you need to create a delicious meal with full sized oven, cooktop, and fridge/freezer along with pantry staples. Outdoor BBQ also available. Meal hampers and pre-prepared dinners available featuring local seasonal produce.

PLEASE NOTE that there is no television - though the outdoor firepit is our 'bush tele' and provides much entertainment for old and young alike - please ask us if you'd like us to prepare it for you (local fire restrictions permitting).

Ideally suited for a couple, however, additional guests can be accommodated upon request. Pull out sofa and porta cot available if requested.

We built this cabin out of an old shed when we bought this place about 10 years ago. Back then it was used to store farm equipment - it had a dirt floor and had gates hung on the front to keep the cattle out!

We lived here until we finally built our new home, and now it is a space dedicated for guests.

Cabin is super cosy during the cooler months with a potbelly fire place, warm bedding and electric blankets.

Cabin is fully insulated on walls and ceiling to keep the space cosy in winter and cool in summer. Lots of windows let in the breezes and ceiling fans if its extra warm.

Plenty of space to bring your four legged friends - a fenced yard for dogs as well as a large, pastured yard available with fresh running water for your horse(s).

And there is plenty of space available to park your trailer/truck/ caravan or camper too.

Garage attached to the cabin is a shared space which we generally will not need to access. This area also contains laundry facilities which is available for use.

We live in the main house on the property and are available if you need help with anything. Being farmers we are usually around the place somewhere!

We will aim to be here to introduce ourselves and check guests in, though depending on our schedule this might not be possible sometimes.

We think our place is a perfect place for a relaxing retreat so we’re happy if you want to keep to yourselves; but equally, we are happy to share our love for our home and region with you too!

The cabin is situated on our 200acre property and overlooks Grahams Valley.

We are 15 minutes drive south of Glen Innes which has supermarkets and all general services. Alternatively, we are 50 minutes drive north of Armidale which is the closest commercial airport

Guests pets are allowed, though are requested to be kept outdoors. If you are bringing pets please ensure that their vaccinations are up-to-date.

This is a working farm and some areas can pose a risks to visitors safety especially young children when not supervised. Such risks include open water bodies close to the house (dams and large water troughs), farm and wild animals, machinery and electric fences. Therefore extra care needs to be taken with younger children.

We would like our guests to have a peaceful and relaxing stay, and as we live nearby, we would appreciate if guests kept noise minimal.

Please tidy kitchen and wash dishes before departing.
All water used in the cabin is rain water - please be conscious of excessive water use.

Pets are allowed outdoors, and as we have dogs and other livestock on the property all pets must be kept under control. We can provide a leash if required.

While we welcome families with children, please be aware that Starlight Cabin is part of an operating cattle property and children must be supervised.

Star Gazing

Kai Iwi Estate is a perfect destination for budding astronomers.

Dark, remote and open space close by the cabin or further afield in the paddocks are ideal for you to see the night sky in all its star-speckled, awe-inspiring glory.

Be amazed by the clear skies and unfiltered views of the Milky Way, miles from the light pollution of the city. Bring your camera and set up your tripod for some star trails! The clear night canopy above the New England is also ideal for naked-eye stargazing – we even have a fire-pit to sit around, guitar is optional.
