Since the arrival of white settlers, Avonside has always been prime merino country and we continue to have a sheep stud on the property. Our stud os for South Down 'babydoll' sheep. this heritage breed is breed as a dual purpose sheep (meat and felt wool).

Due to the temperament and size we market our as perfect small acreage law mowers and organic orchard/vineyard assets.

We also have a small stud of Polled Highland cattle which are proving very popular.

We are 5km from the main road between Canberra and Jindabyne (via Cooma and Berridale). We can help with organising transfers using a preferred shuttle partners.

We are totally off grid, utilising modern method of water harvesting, solar power storage and botanical waste processing. Our house rules are pretty simple - Minimise the use of our valuable resources and have curiosity for the farm life. Escape and enjoy.

Should you wish to participate in farming activities please advise prior to arriving for your stay.

Oliviere was an amazing host! He came down to show us the house (and help us light the chimney!) when we first arrived. The house was perfectly designed with fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. BBQ also available! Farm hand showed us the farm and allow us to feed the friendly animals.

Feed The Farm Animals

With prior arraignment, how about helping to feed the Highland cattle or the cute Babydolls sheep? Collecting eggs or even meeting the Maremma guardian dog called Ted is all possible.

Farm Tour

Our host Olivier took us for a farm tour, it was pure bliss to meet and greet the animals around the farm, feeding them was so therapeutic, we could honestly spend the entire day playing with them.

The stunning Snowy Mountains town of Jindabyne is located on the edge of Lake Jindabyne. The area offers relaxing things to do, such as fishing for trout or meandering bushwalks around the water's edge. The ideal place for a lazy lakeside picnic and afternoon walk.

Hike To The Blue Lake

An absolute must-visit when you are in the area. Only an hour drive from the property this stunning vista will be blown your mind away. It was quite a challenging hike roughly 10 km return to get to the lookout, however, the views made it all worth it. We suggest continuing along the path past the lookout, which winds its way down to the lake in order to truly appreciate its beauty.
