This place is magical! Tucked away in the bush, this little studio has everything you need for an escape from the city. The studio is just the right size - with two Queen beds, a comfy lounge area, a small kitchen and a cute bathroom. There are also so many extras which make it such a comfortable stay, like hammocks on the balcony (with beer holders!), Bluetooth speakers built into the roof, a coffee machine with pods, board games and a fireplace. You’ll also have a great time pointing out all the personal, artistic touches. There are brilliant views of gum trees, chickens and a dog to say hello to in the morning and lots of walks to try. There’s also a beer garden, a yacht club and a fire pit to check out. The host Nick is wonderful and provided us with a yummy bottle of sparkling + chocolate for our stay. You can feel all the love he’s put into this place. Cannot recommend this place more - we’ll definitely be back.

The perfect getaway from city life! We absolutely loved staying at The Studio, it is so peaceful and cosy, with all the amenities you’d require. It was one of the best sleeps I have ever experienced. We enjoyed exploring Nick’s place; there are many games and activities to keep you busy when you aren’t chilling in the hammocks.
We were visited by their chickens whilst we hung out on the balcony and loved their pup Tink. The only regret we have is that we only booked one night. We will definitely be back.

This is our favourite stay in Australia - we love it so much, that we want all our friends to go there as well. Nick has created a magical place to unwind and immerse yourself in nature. The cabin has everything you could possibly want and is whimsical and charming. Nick gave us great tips for hikes and walks and the best places to watch the amazing sunsets on the mountains. There are plenty of places and opportunities to chill here: the hammocks on the deck with a stunning view, the outdoor fireplace, stroking the rescued hens or hanging with the lovely dog. At night you can see millions of stars, watch a DVD, read by the fireplace, or listen to music. The perfect place!

A truly formidable setting with a cosy, homemade abode. Every wall, floor, corner and ornament represents a piece of Nick’s life and effort. When you stay here, you aren’t just staying at an Airbnb, you are staying in a piece of someone’s life which they have crafted with love, passion and creativity. Shelves filled with books which would be treasured by the conscious minded (was amazed to find an original of Frogs into Princes!) and each wall is a collage of sketches, quotes and article cut-outs. The balcony looks out onto a gorgeous valley which is inspiring to explore; the entire vibe is pure Aussie bush. There’s a Tesla battery pack which gains charge from solar panels, the chickens bring their charm to the garden and the lovely dog Tink was a welcomed visitor every now and then. I visited this place with the intention of refining my own creative process and was blown away by how much I was able to accomplish. The views will awaken your sleepiest thoughts, while the log fire in the evening will lull you to dreamland.

Nicks place was great! Out of the city and smack bang in the Bush just as we’d hoped. Even in the midst of winter, with the fire blaring we were super comfortable. Take extra firewood if you plan on having the fire going most of the time. The living area is great, lots of books and some DVDs. The beds are comfy, kitchen amenities are useful, and shower was hot. Lots of bush walks nearby but the valley can be steep so recommend proper hiking shoes. There is a chicken coop next to the studio and Nick provided some fresh eggs for breaky.

Nick’s place is like an oasis of wonder rising up from an otherwise non-descript dirt road.
From the kooky HQ that meets you when you enter, the grounds in which ostrich, guinea fowl, kangaroo roam or the unexpected touches that litter the property it’s a wonderland of quirks.
And then there’s the actual cabin, rustic and even more jam packed full of unique touches and character. A warm fire that keeps you very warm and an ample supply of books, DVDs and cds to make up for the lack of mobile service- a blessing.
And to top it off, Nick and Viv are the warmest, most hospitable hosts you will meet, with the largest of hearts and the warmest of smiles.
The weekend was a true delight and I could have never left the cabin.

We had 2 lovely nights in Nick's studio. Unique little DIY cabin in a beautiful bush setting, great view from the verandah, excellent fire, sound system and books. Great to get away from it all with no wifi or mobile reception. We appreciated the wine and card on arrival plus supplies of coffee and condiments. Our stay at Nick's property was one of the most incredible and unique experiences we have ever had! We wanted an impromptu overnight getaway out of Sydney and could not have been happier with Nick's place. We stayed in the Studio Apartment, which was clean, spacious, had all of the necessary amenities, open but also with a lot of privacy - but the best part was just how much character the space had, as well as being built entirely using second hand materials. Not to mention the view! Upon arriving, Nick offered to show us around his property to the Cabin (we will be there next!), and we saw all sorts of wildlife as well as interesting little trinkets and statues he had adorned along the way. We enjoyed a beer or two in the quirky 'bar' nestled by HQ which was such a unique experience in itself. Nick and his wife Viv were more than accommodating, providing us with everything we needed as well as some great tips for stop off points along the way home. Could not recommend this stay more and we will definitely be back! Thanks so much Nick & Viv for such an awesome and memorable experience. Legends!

This quirky and rustic cabin is beautifully equipped with all the comforts of home including abundant hot water and even a dishwasher. It comes with a balcony overlooking a secluded valley with kangaroos and abundant birdlife. There is no wifi/internet or phone coverage, but the host lives behind and has a phone line if necessary. It's a perfect location for birders, being right on the Capertee bird trail but, when the eucalypts are flowering, the balcony and the walks on the property provides an abundance of sightings. Highly recommended!

There was everything we needed and the finishing touches (including having the fire pre-built up for us and a bottle of bubbly in the fridge!) made the stay extra enjoyable! As I pulled into the property, I thought "Hmmmm.....this will be interesting." I was immediately greeted by Nick who called me by name, welcoming to his property. I was captivated and intrigued by some of the industrial/crafty/woodsy/Artsy projects that Nick was causally working on. He then loaded us in his 4x4 and took us for a tour of his property, offered us a cold beer upon our return, while also mentioning that there was a bottle of bubbles waiting for us in our fridge. Yes, I was impressed. We enjoyed the roo's casually, hanging about, along with the chooks etc etc....while swinging in our hammocks taking in the scenery enjoying a glass full of bubbles. Thank you, Nick, for rescuing two city folks to an Oasis of relaxation over a spectacular long weekend. Along with the pleasant Kinder surprise under our pillows, having a lack of mobile service was the next best surprise to stay completely off the grid for a little while. Seeing everything you've built over the past 9 years is absolutely remarkable. The energy is so warm and positive here, not forgetting the cleanliness is also immaculate. While the hammocks might be the best feature of our experience, truly no detail has gone missing. Everything from start to finish is nothing short of perfection!

Stayed here for my 30th birthday and it was perfect. Complete seclusion. Beautiful views of the mountains from all over the property. Nick has built loads of cool things on the property for you to enjoy. Then the inside is filled with books trinkets all to another level of detail. The place has a lot of soul. I promise you don't get to see a spot like this everyday. Check it out. It's more of an experience than just a place to stay. Very grateful I gotta spend some time here and I'll be back.

A wonderfully quiet location in the Australian bush. The construction is simple but great care has been taken to provide the comfort that is possible without being extravagant. The 2-flame gas cooker and oven works very well. The fridge is of course small. Watching kangaroos and birds from the veranda during breakfast is a treat. Nearby are national parks which are nature lovers' heaven.

Nick was very friendly; he was there to welcome us and showed us the whole place as soon as we got there. He built a lovely cabin with a great view. It's quite big for two people and has everything you need.
If you like to read there are a lot of books and Nick has good CDs (the sound system is really good too).
The place is in the bush and very quiet, you get to see a lot of birds, goannas, and a kangaroo family!...

This place is magical! Tucked away in the bush, this little studio has everything you need for an escape from the city. The studio is just the right size - with two Queen beds, a comfy lounge area, a small kitchen and a cute bathroom. There are also so many extras which make it such a comfortable stay, like hammocks on the balcony (with beer holders!), Bluetooth speakers built into the roof, a coffee machine with pods, board games and a fireplace. You’ll also have a great time pointing out all the personal, artistic touches. There are brilliant views of gum trees, chickens and a dog to say hello to in the morning and lots of walks to try. There’s also a beer garden, a yacht club and a fire pit to check out. The host Nick is wonderful and provided us with a yummy bottle of sparkling + chocolate for our stay. You can feel all the love he’s put into this place. Cannot recommend this place more - we’ll definitely be back.

The perfect getaway from city life! We absolutely loved staying at The Studio, it is so peaceful and cosy, with all the amenities you’d require. It was one of the best sleeps I have ever experienced. We enjoyed exploring Nick’s place; there are many games and activities to keep you busy when you aren’t chilling in the hammocks.
We were visited by their chickens whilst we hung out on the balcony and loved their pup Tink. The only regret we have is that we only booked one night. We will definitely be back.

This is our favourite stay in Australia - we love it so much, that we want all our friends to go there as well. Nick has created a magical place to unwind and immerse yourself in nature. The cabin has everything you could possibly want and is whimsical and charming. Nick gave us great tips for hikes and walks and the best places to watch the amazing sunsets on the mountains. There are plenty of places and opportunities to chill here: the hammocks on the deck with a stunning view, the outdoor fireplace, stroking the rescued hens or hanging with the lovely dog. A truly formidable setting with a cosy, homemade abode. Every wall, floor, corner and ornament represents a piece of Nick’s life and effort. When you stay here, you aren’t just staying at an Airbnb, you are staying in a piece of someone’s life which they have crafted with love, passion and creativity. Shelves filled with books which would be treasured by the conscious minded (was amazed to find an original of Frogs into Princes!) and each wall is a collage of sketches, quotes and article cut-outs. The balcony looks out onto a gorgeous valley which is inspiring to explore; the entire vibe is pure Aussie bush. There’s a Tesla battery pack which gains charge from solar panels, the chickens bring their charm to the garden and the lovely dog Tink was a welcomed visitor every now and then. I visited this place with the intention of refining my own creative process and was blown away by how much I was able to accomplish. The views will awaken your sleepiest thoughts, while the log fire in the evening will lull you to dreamland.

Nicks place was great! Out of the city and smack bang in the Bush just as we’d hoped. Even in the midst of winter, with the fire blaring we were super comfortable. Take extra firewood if you plan on having the fire going most of the time. The living area is great, lots of books and some DVDs. The beds are comfy, kitchen amenities are useful, and shower was hot. Lots of bush walks nearby but the valley can be steep so recommend proper hiking shoes. There is a chicken coop next to the studio and Nick provided some fresh eggs for breaky.

Nick’s place is like an oasis of wonder rising up from an otherwise non-descript dirt road.
From the kooky HQ that meets you when you enter, the grounds in which ostrich, guinea fowl, kangaroo roam or the unexpected touches that litter the property it’s a wonderland of quirks.
And then there’s the actual cabin, rustic and even more jam packed full of unique touches and character. A warm fire that keeps you very warm and an ample supply of books, DVDs and cds to make up for the lack of mobile service- a blessing.
And to top it off, Nick and Viv are the warmest, most hospitable hosts you will meet, with the largest of hearts and the warmest of smiles.
The weekend was a true delight and I could have never left the cabin.

Our stay at Nick's property was one of the most incredible and unique experiences we have ever had! We wanted an impromptu overnight getaway out of Sydney and could not have been happier with Nick's place. We stayed in the Studio Apartment, which was clean, spacious, had all of the necessary amenities, open but also with a lot of privacy - but the best part was just how much character the space had, as well as being built entirely using second hand materials. Not to mention the view! Upon arriving, Nick offered to show us around his property to the Cabin (we will be there next!), and we saw all sorts of wildlife as well as interesting little trinkets and statues he had adorned along the way. We enjoyed a beer or two in the quirky 'bar' nestled by HQ which was such a unique experience in itself. Nick and his wife Viv were more than accommodating, providing us with everything we needed as well as some great tips for stop off points along the way home. This quirky and rustic cabin is beautifully equipped with all the comforts of home including abundant hot water and even a dishwasher. It comes with a balcony overlooking a secluded valley with kangaroos and abundant birdlife. There is no wifi/internet or phone coverage, but the host lives behind and has a phone line if necessary. It's a perfect location for birders, being right on the Capertee bird trail but, when the eucalypts are flowering, the balcony and the walks on the property provides an abundance of sightings. As I pulled into the property, I thought "Hmmmm.....this will be interesting." I was immediately greeted by Nick who called me by name, welcoming to his property. I was captivated and intrigued by some of the industrial/crafty/woodsy/Artsy projects that Nick was causally working on. He then loaded us in his 4x4 and took us for a tour of his property, offered us a cold beer upon our return, while also mentioning that there was a bottle of bubbles waiting for us in our fridge. Yes, I was impressed. We enjoyed the roo's casually, hanging about, along with the chooks etc etc....while swinging in our hammocks taking in the scenery enjoying a glass full of bubbles. Nick's place is very comfortable and relaxing. Staying here topped our Bathurst 1000 weekend off perfectly, after a hectic day at the mount, we looked forward to coming back to a very nice bush cabin and relaxing in the hammocks on the decks with a cuppa and just re-connecting to nature all around us. If you are looking at this place, I would definitely go for it, you will not be disappointed!!!

Thank you, Nick, for rescuing two city folks to an Oasis of relaxation over a spectacular long weekend. Along with the pleasant Kinder surprise under our pillows, having a lack of mobile service was the next best surprise to stay completely off the grid for a little while. Seeing everything you've built over the past 9 years is absolutely remarkable. The energy is so warm and positive here, not forgetting the cleanliness is also immaculate. While the hammocks might be the best feature of our experience, truly no detail has gone missing. Everything from start to finish is nothing short of perfection!

Nick's place is fantastic. Simple but by no means basic and very clean. It's got everything you need for a bush escape. Quiet, peaceful, stunning views from the deck plus a comfy bed and a log burner for cold nights. Nick and Viv were really welcoming and recommended some great walks in the area. Bring a case of wine and some steaks for the barbie. And don't forget to check out the stunning night sky. It feels a lot further than three hours from Sydney - in the best possible way.

Staying at Nick's was an absolute fabulous experience!
Nick is warm, funny and very welcoming with a big, big heart.
The setting of the studio is as described and so are the surroundings.
The studio is very comfortable, clean and well appointed.
Everything has been built with love and a lot of quirkiness!
Once you find yourself laying in the hammocks on the terrace, observing the peaceful nature in front of you, you'll never want to leave.
We certainly would've liked to extend our stay by a lifetime!!

Had a really perfect stay at Nick and Viv’s personal tiny town! Really beautiful spot, the cabin is over flowing with character and uniqueness. Really great collection of music to listen to as well as books board games and DVDs. Think the dog is also an absolute delight, along with all the cute chickens. Incredible sunsets too. Just awesome! Stayed here for my 30th birthday and it was perfect. Complete seclusion. Beautiful views of the mountains from all over the property. Nick has built loads of cool things on the property for you to enjoy. Then the inside is filled with books trinkets all to another level of detail. The place has a lot of soul. I promise you don't get to see a spot like this everyday. Check it out. It's more of an experience than just a place to stay. Very grateful I gotta spend some time here and I'll be back.

This place is so cool. You could spend your whole time exploring all the quirky books and ornaments on the shelves alone but then you step out onto the balcony and it’s insanely beautiful with breathtaking walks and hikes nearby.

A wonderfully quiet location in the Australian bush. The construction is simple but great care has been taken to provide the comfort that is possible without being extravagant. The 2-flame gas cooker and oven works very well. The fridge is of course small. Watching kangaroos and birds from the veranda during breakfast is a treat. Nearby are national parks which are nature lovers' heaven.

Nick was very friendly; he was there to welcome us and showed us the whole place as soon as we got there. He built a lovely cabin with a great view. It's quite big for two people and has everything you need.
If you like to read there are a lot of books and Nick has good CDs (the sound system is really good too).
The place is in the bush and very quiet, you get to see a lot of birds, goannas, and a kangaroo family!...

The Retreat is located behind 'HQ' and is self-contained, with a queen bed, bathroom, kitchen, BBQ on the deck, stereo, DVD player, CD's and DVD's.
You have all the comforts of home; water and mains power electricity, without the internet or wifi to interrupt. If needed, internet, wifi and a Telstra phone line are available at HQ.
There is no TV reception however there is a TV screen with DVD capability. A selection of DVD’s is provided.
On site there is a caravan with an annexe fitted out as a bar, with a view over a dam. There is also a covered jetty which we call 'The Yacht Club', where you can make yourselves at home.
Guests have full access to the Retreat and surrounds.
We won’t intrude in your space but will be available throughout your visit should you need anything.
The area offers bushwalking, birdwatching and relaxing.
The Retreat is in a relatively remote location, with no public transport. It is situated on a dirt road, which is easily accessed by 2WD vehicles.
We have chooks and ducks that live with us, plus goannas, kangaroos and various birds that come to visit.
Please 'leave-it-like-you-find-it'.
The cabin is in a natural bushland setting where things are quiet and peaceful. We try not to disturb the natural peace, so we don't allow pets.
Please use the bins provided for sanitary napkins etc. as our septic system cannot cope with them.
Do not dive or jump into the dam in any circumstances as the depth varies and it may be very shallow. Entering the dam is not recommended as the water quality may be poor.
Children and infants must be closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
Due to the rugged nature of the property, the property owner(s) will not be held responsible in tort or contract or otherwise for any loss of or damage to any property belonging to guests or any other people residing on this property, or for any incident involving guests or any other people residing on this property, whether or not such incident is the result of the negligence or breach of contract or wilful default of the owner(s) of this property, its servants or agents....
