Magic Cottage - Romantic, Chic Waterfront Seclusion

In addition to your own romantic secluded riverfront cottage and private claw foot bath on the deck overlooking the river, guests have access to all the amenities at Takou River including our beautiful 5-acre sub-tropical gardens to wander and explore; the tranquil Takou River to swim, fish, paddle and discover; our private boathouse and jetty with kayaks, canoes and fishing rods to borrow at your leisure.

A separate free standing riverside Hot Tub can also be booked as an optional extra as well as massages (fees apply to both options and pre bookings are required).

The cottage is surrounded by our 150-acre organic farm with marked walks along the river, through pastures and native bush to secluded swimming and picnic spots, and last but not least, the deserted sandy beaches a short paddle downstream at Takou Bay. We have hidden glow worms, abundant native birdlife and beautiful walks. The tariff includes free WiFi (in the Guest Office), beautiful linen, fresh flowers, books and magazines, handmade toiletries, gas for the bbq, and free use of the kayaks, canoes and fishing rods. Magic Cottage is private and sole occupancy.

Privacy and seclusion are guaranteed, however, we are just a phone call away should you need help or information, would like to book a relaxing massage or spa treatment, or the luxurious Hot Tub by the river!

The cottage is perfectly located in a stunning, secluded and peaceful riverside location, on our beautiful 150-acre organic farm, just a short paddle downstream to the deserted sandy beaches at Takou Bay. All the amenities, sights and activities of the wider Bay of Islands are just a short drive away, although many guests decide never to leave the property!

We are an easy 20-minute drive from the thriving small town of Kerikeri in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Kerikeri, with its award-winning wineries, cafes and restaurants, vibrant Farmers' Markets and local historic sights has all you need for your stay. Paihia, Russell, and the wider Bay of Island and the Far North are all easily accessible. We are happy to provide recommendations for places to eat, visit and experience during your stay!

We are a convenient 20-minute drive from the Bay of Islands Airport in Kerikeri where hire cars are available; a 20-minute drive from Kerikeri town centre and a 3.5 hr drive from the centre of Auckland.

We usually operate a 2-night minimum stay, although can sometimes accommodate a single night, particularly during the winter or mid-week, so please ask!
