Designed and built to blend naturally with the surrounding alpine wilderness. The cabin is completely off the grid and harnesses its own energy supply from solar and catches rainfall for water supply.
FEATURED IN: Good Weekend, 52 Weekends Away & Qantas Travel Insider
Nestled in sub alpine woodlands at high elevation in the Thredbo Valley, the cabin has private outlooks in every direction and takes in spectacular views of the Snowy Mountains including Mt Perisher—close to Thredbo, the ski tube and Jindabyne and a stones throw to the Wild Brumby Distillery.
The cabin has been designed and hand crafted to provide a completely unique accommodation experience. Everything has been designed and built to blend naturally with the cabins internal and external surrounds.
Apart from a few introduced items, everything was conceived purely for the space, from furniture to joinery, a concrete basin, upholstery, leather work and ceramics. Using natural and raw materials creates a deliberate connection with the surrounding landscape, combined with refined design principles creates a space of calm and tranquility.
Borrowing from Mother Nature’s resources, 26 tonne of granite rock were selected by hand and Australian hardwood timbers were sourced to build with. Mill Cabin is committed to treading lightly, ensuring that all methods from construction to operations are environmentally friendly—based on the belief that our combined impact on the planet should be as minimal as possible.
The Cabin is supplied with Hunter Lab soaps and creams. Cultiver linen is used in the bedroom.
A fully equipped kitchen with a gas cooktop, electric oven and dishwasher. Custom ceramic dinnerware, cast-iron cookware, one off ceramic pieces and speciality tea and coffee.
Mill Cabin is well insulated and the wood stove provides warmth as well as a cozy atmosphere. You’ll find everything you need to light a fire on site: wood, lighter and kindling. It can get a little colder in the depths of winter, so please be sure to pack enough warm clothing if you are planning to stay through the cooler months.
With one queen bedroom and spacious living areas the cabin will generously accommodate singles or couples looking for a peaceful and indulgent escape in the Snowy Mountains.

Absolutely stunning. Peaceful, luxurious environment, complete privacy and beautiful surrounds. The cabin has been built and curated with such love and thoughtfulness. A joy to spend a long weekend he...re. Recommend a stop on the way there at Wild Brumby down the road and, if you're up for an excursion- one of the recommended bush walks in the Snowies. But otherwise, bunker down in the cabin and enjoy the serenity.

Beautiful little escape from the rush of the city life. Quiet and peaceful. Cabin has all the nice little comforts you need. Off the grid so we could just unwind. Not to far if you want to go out for ...dinner. But as a chef I used the finer pit to do some cooking under the stars. Lots of wildlife at our door step. 100% would do book here again.

Wild Brumby Distillery
The famous schnapps distillery. It would be rude not to pop in and pick up some schnapps – look out for the winter special.

Wildbrumby Schnapps Vodka And Gin Distillery
Stop off at Wildbrumby on your Alpine Way explorations. It's on a big, open site and they serve a vast range of homemade schnapps, vodka and gin. Perfect pick-me-up on your way past! They also serve food here.
Scenic Drive Along Alpine Way
If you're in the mood to do some drive-by sightseeing, check out Alpine Way. It'll take you through some absolutely stunning scenery.
Right at the end, you'll find a sweet little campground called "Tom Groggin campground" which is a popular but spacious place to set up your tent, with a clean little river running through it.

River Fishing
Thredbo River meanders from Thredbo to Lake Jindabyne and is a fly fishing haven. Near Bullocks Hut, at the junction of Thredbo River and Little Thredbo River, is a lovely fishing spot.
Refreshing River Dip
Thredbo Diggings Campground was a great spot to park and take an afternoon dip. I was too cold to get in, so I sat and enjoyed the sun while Andy cooled off his Tassie blood in the snow melted waters. There's only a little bit of parking for day use of the river, but we lucked out and got a weekday spot. Try your luck, it's worth it.
If you can't find a park turn around and head out to the lake in Jindabyne for your water fix. Not as much of a vibe but it'll do the trick.
