A Piece of Gold

Thanks Gage Roads Brewing Co for supporting this story.
The drive into Fawlty Farm is breathtaking with panoramic views over Lake Eildon. We arrived around 3pm and were greeted by our host John who gave us a tour of the facilities and advised us of activities on offer over the next couple of days. We settled in for the night, prepared a delicious dinner and enjoyed a few drinks and laughs around the fire pit.

The next morning was spent kayaking on the lake, peddling around on the paddle boat, jetty jumping and fishing. After lunch, John picked us up in his Pinzgauer (Swiss army truck) and took us down to Lake Eildon to spend a couple of hours aboard his houseboat. It was a beautiful way to spend the afternoon- relaxing, swimming, enjoying the sights.

We spent another few hours hanging out at Fawlty Farm where we played pool in the games room, explored the property and the children picked some wildflowers. Then we all jumped aboard the Pinzgauer again to head to the hilltop for sunset. A stunning 360 degree view complete with champagne, cheese and a small fire pit for warmth when the sun goes down.

The next morning was a trip to the active gold mine on the property. We toured down the mine, up ladders and through tunnels where they have found gold. We each collected a rock and threw it into the crushing machine. We were lucky enough to find a few small pieces of Gold! Which John let us take home as a memento. The weather was beautiful and we spent the rest of the afternoon swimming or lounging lakeside before making the journey back to Melbourne.

The Lake house is situated right on the edge of the lake and has beautiful views from the upstairs room. There is also a bath tub upstairs for a little extra indulgence. The deck and diving board are right out the front for a cheeky early morning dip. The 5 x A Frame cabins are super cute. Minimally styled yet functional. Each with a double bed and 2 x rollaway beds for children. The 2 dorms have 3 x bunk beds in each with views out the front over the lake. We slept 22 people a mix of adults and children in comfy beds with no complaints!
