Groundedness in the Snowy Mountains
Adventure in Bolaro, Snowy Mountains, NSW, AU
We arrived at the pyramid when the sun was setting, just in time to enjoy some rock scrambling over the granite boulders and a hot drink while admiring this magical and atypical cabin.
Nestled in the middle of the serpentine roads, close to the flowing Murrumbidgee River, the pyramid offers the perfect city escape and time to stop and connect with nature.
Pyramids have a deep symbolism that goes back centuries. It is said that they have the ability to collect energy from the stars and deliver it down to earth. When you sit here, in the serenity of nature, contemplating the milky way shining over the pointed top of the pyramid, you understand the power this shape provides. We were so far from any city and town lights, the night sky was stunning and vivid.
We woke the next day to the soothing sound of raindrops falling on the tin roof. The bad weather didn’t stop us, and after wandering around the property and discovering its little hidden gems, we decided to explore the region. We had fun chasing multiple rainbows and golden lights on the scenic roads of Mount Kosciuszko National park, trying snow shoes with low visibility and exploring Yarrangobilly Caves. After a last stop in Jindabyne to buy some beers to indulge in by the lake, we were so happy to come home to the warmth of the pyramid, cook a comforting dinner and play board games. The following morning, it was, unfortunately, time for us to leave, but we felt so rejuvenated and ready for more adventures to come.

- Snow
- Caving
- River
- Walk
- Lake
Chasing rainbows and golden lights on the stunning windy roads of Mount Kosciuszko national park while enjoying a hot cuppa and treats from the halfway caravan.
Braving the bad forecast and low visibility, we enjoyed a small snowshoe hike in the Snowy Mountains.
We loved exploring South Glory Cave like we were little explorers discovering this stunning underworld feature by ourselves. It was fun running through high winds and rain to access the cave's entrance. Yarrangobilly is probably the highlight of northern Kosciuszko National Park, a place where you can explore jaw-dropping caves on your own or with a guide. Best of all, you can swim in the thermal pool all year round.
We enjoyed exploring the shores of the flowing Murrumbidgee River, just a two-minute walk from our pyramid. It is the perfect place for fishing, swimming or picnics during the warmer months.
We had so much fun scrambling over the big boulders and discovering all the hidden features of this beautiful property – the ponds, playground, picnic tables and hidden cellar. It was a playground for both big and little humans.
We grabbed some local craft beers at Jindabyne Brewing and enjoyed them while contemplating the beauty of Lake Jindabyne.
