Life of Locomotive Luxury
Adventure in Pomonal, Grampians, VIC, AU
At the foothills of the national park, Grampians Railway Station sits surrounded by quintessential Victorian farm land. Kangaroos and birdlife greeted us as we pulled up to our ensemble of historic train carriages. Inside, no detail was left spared. It's clear the host has put care and attention into our stay, so we were transported into the romance of a Victorian-era train.
You don’t have to be a train enthusiast to appreciate this space, as it was as comfortable as it was unique. The warm, king-size bed was a dream in the cold mountain air, while the hot tub was the perfect place to spot the stars or kangaroos bouncing by.
We found the Pomonal area to be filled with activities, despite the wild weather we were welcomed with. Each day, we stopped in at the local art galleries, stores, cafes, and time-honoured country pubs. We also summoned up the courage to brave the storm and hike in the beautiful national park, which was made easier knowing we were returning to a glass of local wine in our cosy carriage escape....
