Home Among The Gum Trees

After a week of wild weather and flooding, we were thrilled at the thought of a getaway where we could sit back and marvel at the force of nature - without having to commute in it! We set off with some tunes and snacks, excited to reach the foothills of the Hawkesbury and stay put for the next few days.

Arriving at the ‘Ding Dang Doo Ranch’ we were in awe of how vibrantly green the 30-acre property was. We wound our way down into the expansive valley and headed toward a vast stretch of bushland in the distance. Peeking out almost camouflaged among the towering gum trees sat our long-awaited destination, a beautiful safari-style tent.
The tented villa came complete with all the necessities to keep you comfortable, including a cosy bed, full kitchenette with fridge and microwave, outdoor BBQ and a bathroom with eco-toilet. It also had some surprise extras such as a coffee machine with locally roasted beans and an indoor fireplace to keep you cosy on those cooler nights.

During pockets of clear sky we made the most of the many acres at our door; exploring the property’s bushwalking track, visiting the resident horses and soaking up the sunshine dipping our feet in the lake. The rest of our time was spent on the expansive deck, which was the perfect place to unwind and feel immersed in our serene surrounds.

Deserving of its own separate praise was the beautiful outdoor bathtub. As night fell, there was nothing more indulgent than retreating to the tub, soaking on the candlelit deck and listening to raindrops fall on the tent rooftop. Such a luxurious treat that truly made the 'real world' feel a million miles away.

For two seasoned campers, this was our first glamping experience, and the tented villa definitely set the bar high. Rain or shine, you can enjoy your time completely immersed in the bushland surrounds, without sacrificing any comfort or luxury.
