A Cozy Cottage in the Snowies
Adventure in Greenlands, Snowy Mountains, NSW, AU
The Snowy Mountains were calling.. and the boys answered.
Whenever someone tells me they want to get away and switch off for the weekend, the snowy mountains are the first place that comes to mind. I wrangled up two of my best mates and jumped in the car for an epic few nights in the mountains.
About at 5-hour drive south from Sydney, you'll find yourself in the Aussie High Country, a truly unique and special place unlike any other in Australia. We headed straight for Kallarroo Cottage which is located around 50 minutes outside of Cooma. After a scenic drive down old country roads, we arrived at Kallarroo which overlooked snow gums and a river that stretched beyond the horizon.
Kallaroo Cottage had a unique rustic homestead feel with cozy fireplaces that you could spend hours in front of with a good book. The first thing we did was run down to the river for an afternoon paddle in the canoe, followed by a bonfire out the front of the cottage whilst waiting for the stars to come out. The following day we explored the farm making friends with the locals - the friendliest highland cows and horses. Make sure you bring some carrots, and they will be your best friends!
There's something very special about Kallaroo Cottage that felt like a home away from home, and it was the perfect escape to enjoy with great friends....
