The Valley of Relaxation
Adventure in Smiths Creek, North Coast, NSW, AU
When the roads turned to dirt and the phone reception ran dry, we knew we were in the right place. The hustle 'n' bustle and technological distractions were behind us as the valley opened up and The Wombat Creek Eco Retreat greeted us.
Perched high amongst the tall gums with an incredible view west towards the sunset, the cosy timber cabin was warm and welcoming with all the charm and necessities to allow us to melt into relaxation and re-connect with nature and friends.
With a beautiful country pub and mighty Clarence River nearby, we couldn't help but take advantage of mixing complete relaxation with a sprinkle of local culture and a healthy dose of adventure....

Just 15 minutes back towards Grafton is the Rest Point Family Hotel. A classic character-filled country pub adorned with local historical photographs, war memorabilia, taxidermy local wildlife and a warm nature. Honest priced drinks paired with locally sourced hearty meals and a view over the hills, this destination can not be passed up....
Follow the Clarence River west for about an hour. The dirt road will wind endlessly throughout farmland, cattle and incredible views of the Clarence River. Once you reach the end of the road, you won't believe how remote you are. Overlooking the flowing Clarence, flanked by magnificent hills, it feels as though you're in Yosemite National Park....
