I created The Spotty Dog at Ferncroft from a love of the things that make life feel good again: animals, fresh air, beautiful spaces, beach walks, slow mornings, deep rest and the rare luxury of switching off.
For me, true luxury is not just polished interiors — it is comfort, calm and care. It is waking up somewhere that feels better than home, stepping outside barefoot, breathing in the valley air, feeding the animals, wandering to the beach, then returning to a beautifully styled cottage where everything has been considered.
The Spotty Dog brings together my love of premium chic comfort, farm life, coastal living and self-care. It was designed as a place where guests can unplug from the rush of everyday life, unwind properly and enjoy the feeling that time has slowed down. The cottage is brand new, private and purpose-built for rest, but still full of warmth, personality and little moments of whimsy.
Our Beauty and the Beast-inspired animals are part of the story — Maurice and Gaston the goats, Fifi and Mrs Potts the geese, and The Feather Dusters chickens. They bring charm, joy and a gentle rhythm to the stay, helping guests reconnect with simple pleasures.
As hosts, we live on site and genuinely care that every guest has a beautiful experience. The cottage is separate and private, but we are close by if anything is needed — whether that is help with the fire pit, fresh eggs, local recommendations, animal feeding, or simply making sure the stay feels seamless and special.
