Glowworms at Waitomo Caves

Waitomo is famous for the millions of glowworms that grace the cave ceilings. There are a number of private caves that offer tours, the Waitomo Caves themselves being the main ones, or you can do the Ruakuri Bush Walk at night for a free sighting but be sure to take a headlamp and be careful in the dark.
