Mount Taranaki Summit Hike

Hike in Taranaki
Rising 2500 metres above sea level, Mount Taranaki is the second-highest peak on the North Island and the challenging hike to the summit was an absolute highlight of our trip. We decided to summit before sunrise and the views as the sun came up were absolutely breathtaking. The track is recommended for fit and experienced trampers and takes 7–10 hours return, following marker poles to the summit.
