Additional Information

The space
With a full kitchen, you are ready to nestle in for a long stay and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and all the farm has to offer. We, Dave & Jaimie, do all of our own projects and we are constantly working around the property and growing and building new things! Sig Sauer & Remington, our working LGDs, are part of our family and keeps all our animal friends safe from the wild things. Sig & Remi, along with the Highland coos and our other animals friends are always guest's favorites memories!

Guest access
Meander along the fern lined country driveway as you make your way to our home. While it looks like you are driving through a national forest, a 2 wheel drive car will get you here in most weather situations (excluding snow.) Once you have arrived at our custom gate, there is a dedicated guest parking spot close to the home just for you!

Other things to note
The property includes a large seasonal container garden directly across from the Shipping Container home where you are welcome to taste and sample, a greenhouse, berry patch, orchard, and a fire pit (with wood) just to name a few of the many amenities. The Chickens and ducks are always entertaining and are protected by their guardians, Sig & Remi our Great Pyrenees'. Oh, and don't forget the fluffy Highland coos! They love all the guests, because guests feed them snackies ;) Their favorites include apples, carrots, bananas, melons, bread - but really, they aren't picky! If you are lucky, you will be able to snap the perfect picture of their long tongue wrapping around fingers as they enjoy the treats! We also offer organic farm fresh chicken & duck eggs and organic homegrown jams for purchase if you are interested - just ask for details and availability. Thank you in advance for staying with us and helping to support our tiny farm and our farm friends!

Staying at Highland was a truly unique experience! We went on several hikes each day (Ape Caves was awesome!), ate locally and enjoyed the farm for some R&R. If we ever come back to Mt St Helen’s area we will stay here for sure!!!

We would definitely recommend this place! Everything about the accommodations was high quality and well done. What a peaceful, beautiful & immaculate venue to stay while exploring the Pacific North W...est!

This is a great location to head to Portland, Mount Rainier, the Columbia River or the Pacific Coast for the day.

Most of all we loved feeding the adorable Scottish Highland “coos", the sweet dogs Sig/Remi/Ches & the chickens. The owner’s story about how they have transformed their property is very impressive.

Hi! My husband, Dave and I built a shipping container home in 2016 on 5 acres in the peaceful woods of Kalama WA. In 2020, we decided that we needed to become more sustainable and are now learning how to create a life on our acreage as we turn into a tiny homestead. In 2021 we doubled our tiny farm to 10 acres, brought home Scottish Highland Cows and are now sharing our shipping container home and lifestyle with guests. Dave and I can honestly say we are learning how to live our best life as we turn woods into pasture and this land into a real sustainable homestead. We would love to have you come stay with us at Highland & Co Acres!

Enjoy A Riverfront Meal At Mcmenamins Kalama Harbor Lodge

This funky restaurant, brewery, and hotel is perched right at the edge of the Columbia River and is well worth a stop. There are plenty of unique seating options as well as a rooftop bar–poke around and enjoy the architecture and history that covers the walls, and if you have the time, seek out the building's two secret rooms.

This sandy beach park is the perfect place to lay down a towel, soak up some rays, and when you get too toasty, jump in the Columbia River for a refreshing swim.

The cafe was actually undergoing painting and moving of furniture when we happened upon it, but I can tell that it's going to be amazing! Welcoming owners, delicious coffee.

Japanese Garden On Lake Sacajawea

A stunning and authentic Japanese Garden set alongside Lake Sacajawea in Longview, WA. The park has three-and-a-half miles of walking and biking trails that wind around the lake. The garden is actually an island in the middle of the lake and accessed by a bridge.

Lake Sacajawea Japanese Gardens And Park

Lake Sacajawea is the pride and joy of Longview but the crown jewel of this community area is the Japanese Gardens. The Japanese Garden was the idea and design of former Longview Parks Superintendent Al George. After being inspired by the gardens he saw when he was stationed in Japan while in the Navy, George wanted to recreate the beauty back home. Wanting the garden to feel authentic, he studied Japanese garden design extensively and consulted extensively with Japanese gardeners. There are also kayak rentals at Lake Sacajawea.

Mount Saint Helens

We originally stopped at the Visitor Center for information about the drive up to see the volcano. Unfortunately, the end of the road (The Johnston Ridge Observatory, milepost 52) showed just clouds – it was too overcast to get to see it. But we enjoyed the center and surrounding Silver Lake, which had a cool wetland area and half-mile walk. The Forest Learning Center was further along the road (milepost 37) and a super-cool stop for kids and grown-ups.

Would definitely recommend talking to the rangers here before heading up to the mountain.
