Although Dogtrot House is quite seperate, The Water Cabin is also on the property, so access to the dam and canoe may be shared.
Fish in the dam are pets, not dinner, so please release any fish you might catch unharmed. Fly or lure with flattened barbs only.
Lake Eildon is only 5 minutes away and dinner can be caught there.

Dogtrot House is a stunning place to stay - the house itself is immaculate, it has a beautiful view over a private lake and in such a delightful part of Victoria. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for a few nights and would love to come back with a few friends.

The dam is large enough for a canoe or kayak and is stocked with trout. There is also a wild population of redfin.

The Best One Liner

The dam on property is full of rainbow trout. The Host has a rod on property for anyone who wants a do some friendly fishing. Catch and release is a must though. There is also fish food for anyone who just wants to sit by the water and feed them.

The property has so many things to do, and with a beautiful dam just outside your doorstep, the kayak on the property was a perfect way to spend our afternoon.

With great coffee, a huge maze to get lost in, endless gardens to explore, a art gallery to get inspired by and a few chickens to visit, High Country Gardens is a must in the area.

Goughabunga At Goughs Bay

A bay that opens on to Lake Eildon, Goughs Bay is a great spot to take a walk, fish for your dinner, or even take a swim.

Definitely a great place to skim a rock or two, Gough’s Bay was the perfect spot for a short hike. A cruisey walk that’s easy on the eyes, this was a great stop-off after fair drive exploring Merrijig.

Delatite River Fishing

If you feel like a spot of fishing trout can be found only a few minutes drive away in the Delatite River. The locals were more then helpful to give us tips and recommendations on places to try.

Mountain Bike Riding

Rifle Butts Reserve in Mansfield is within riding distance of the township and is suitable for beginner to advanced cross-country mountain bikers.
