The Black Yurt is situated within Oakura on our section. The surf beach, a number of cafes/restaurants, pharmacy and convenience store are within walking distance. Several hiking trails can be found nearby.

Accessible via a private staircase, this yurt offers a comfortable bed, lounge area and kitchenette. The bath and shower are outdoors. A separate small building contains the toilet. Including: heat-pump, gas bbq, windows with fly screen.

This out of the ordinary space is situated on a spacious deck, placed among trees and adjoining a small stream. The yurt feels cozy (approx. 38 sqm) and is a beautiful place to unwind. Additionally to the king size bed, there’s a queen size futon mattress that can be rolled out on the floor to accommodate a maximum of two children. Please request the futon when traveling with children.

The dome can be opened and the windows rolled up for a great indoor/outdoor flow and stargazing at night. It is insulated and has a heat-pump for heating/cooling. The kitchenette offers coffee and tea equipment as well as a toaster and small fridge.

For additional, small cooking needs, a gas barbecue is situated on the deck. The setup is not suitable for bigger food preparation. We encourage our guest to check out the local cafes and restaurants.

A beautiful bath and shower can be enjoyed under the open sky. The toilet house is accessible under a roof and houses a hand basin and toilet.

Additional Information

Please park your car in the designated area and descend the private staircase to the yurt. The deck is all yours and we are planning to extend the outdoor area further in future.
- Maximum occupancy of 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years.
- Please be considerate towards our neighbors and the noise level.
- The parking area is marked and located at the curve of the driveway. Feel free to drive up the curbing. Please leave enough space for cars to drive through as it is a shared driveway. There’s plenty of off street parking, too.

I give my guests space but am available when needed
Our house is on the land, too and is partially visible from the yurt. You can probably see us every now and then going about our day.

Top notch, LOVED our two night stay!!! So close to the beach, good food and coffee. We had an awesome time using the big bath tub outside and it truely was tranquil.

This place was amazing. Everything that was promised in the photos - but even cooler in real life. Tried to make the most of what was offered by having a bath in the evenings and made an outdoor fire,... highly recommend. Awesome bead and toilet.
It’s also listed for sale online! What a shame it’s out of our price range - we’d love to snap this little gem up. Oh well, we’ll have to be satisfied with coming back for many visits in future 😊
