Your chance to stay in a beautifully presented traditional Mongolian Yurt. Perfect for a romantic couple's getaway or a rejuvenating personal retreat.

Yurt Hideaway's private, self contained space is tucked away in the beachside suburb of Tootgarook. The space includes private entry, the spacious 6 metre wide yurt, a recently renovated bathroom, and the covered courtyard with its garden, water features, sitting area and kitchenette.

The yurt is a large circular room constructed with the traditional method and materials direct from Mongolia. The varnished wood frame and solid hard wood floor gives this gorgeous yurt a modern, open and comfortable feel.

The yurt is insulated with a thick layer of felt. There is heating for cosy winter nights and a fan for keeping cool in summer.

To allow you to switch off from daily life and enjoy this unique getaway there is no TV. But rest assured, there is wifi to connect your device, allowing you to to chill and watch a movie or listen to music.

Situated just minutes to the Hot Springs and walking distance to the beach, this is a perfect spot to enjoy an extended stay or a weekend away

YURT DETAILS
You will have everything you need for an enjoyable stay, a comfy queen sized bed, an outdoor kitchenette, bathroom as well as both indoor and outdoor living spaces.

The outdoor kitchenette includes: hot water, sink, section of teas, quality coffee pods, kettle, toaster, microwave, bar fridge, cutlery, crockery and electric BBQ.

The fully covered outdoor sitting area is perfect for enjoying the clear winter evenings and warm summer nights. Lighting allows you to enjoy the outdoor courtyard after nightfall.

The bathroom is just a few steps from the yurt door via a paved path. Recently renovated and beautifully presented, it includes the essentials - hot water, shower, toilet, vanity, mirror and hairdryer. Quality towels and luxury (local, eco) products are provided to add a touch of luxe to your stay.

Yurt Hideaway is in a great location for beach lovers! It is a short walk down the road to the beach of the bay (900m). We highly recommend a beach walk at low tide, it is stunning!

THE LOCAL AREA
The Mornington Peninsula is a coastal area surrounded by the Bass Strait and Port Phillip Bay. The suburb of Tootgarook is located on the coast of Port Phillip Bay, next to the town of Rye.
Just a 900m walk from the yurt is the beach of the bay (Capel Sound Foreshore), where you can enjoy a dip in the shallow waters, a beach walk and stunning sunrise & sunsets!
The world renowned hot springs is a short 5 minute drive.
From the lookouts at Arthurs Seat, you can enjoy amazing views of the bay, on a clear day, you can even see the outline of Melbourne.
A short 15 minute drive to Red Hill and you'll find yourself surrounded by forest.

We had the most amazing stay at Yurt Hideaway in Tootgarook! The moment we arrived, we were immediately captivated by the tranquil surroundings—lush greenery, birdlife, and the soft rustling of leaves... in the breeze. The yurt itself was beautifully decorated, cozy, and fully equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind and forget about the stresses of everyday life.

The hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive, providing us with plenty of recommendations for local activities and ensuring our stay was as comfortable as possible. Whether it was sipping coffee on the private deck in the morning or stargazing at night, we felt completely at ease. The location was ideal too—close enough to the beautiful beaches of Tootgarook and Rye, but far enough to offer privacy and a true escape. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience and highly recommend Yurt Hideaway to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in nature. We’ll definitely be back!

Our go-to place for coffee and breakfast and it’s only a short drive from the yurt. With an interior of boutique furniture and large windows right across from the beach it’s a beautiful way to start the day.

Horse Riding

Explore the beautiful Mornington Peninsula on horseback. There are rides to cater for all levels of experience; from easy, slow rides to take in the scenery for beginners to exhilarating rides along the ocean beaches for those used to the saddle. Enjoy a quiet bush ride through tranquil forest trails and country lanes that lead to magnificent views of the bay. Or travel by horseback through the Mornington Peninsula National Park to ride along the wild surf coastline of the Bass Strait ocean beach.

Gunnamatta Beach

Located in the Mornington Peninsula National Park the walking track to this beach leads through a mix of tall trees and low-lying scrubland. This is the rougher side of the coastline, but it’s a beautiful spot covered in walking tracks of varying difficulty.

Cape Schanck Boardwalk

The boardwalk is just left of the lighthouse and its stairs lead down the colourful cliffs to the rocky beaches below. This coast is beautiful in all weather and the boardwalk offers the most amazing views.
