We absolutely loved our week at the Yellow Mellow Beach Shack! Walking in to the house was like walking in to some kind of magical cloud house - it was light and bright, sunshine in colour, and as it'...s on a hill and on stilts we could see views of the lake and the ocean in multiple directions.
My two kids loved playing backyard cricket, roasting marshmallows, playing chasey around the deck, the outdoor shower, and colouring in and board games in the comfy bean bags. Plenty of room for the four of us! Everything was incredibly neat and tiny and thoughtfully chosen, while still keeping it's authentic and unpretentious beach shack feel.
We filled in the week with wonderful adventures - swimming in Lake Tyers Beach, mini golf, op shopping, shell museum, aqua park, a boat ride on the thunderbird to see seals, a pottery class at Salt Walter Collective, and lazy days hanging around the shack. We also enjoyed a day trip past the Stony Creek trestle bridge at Nowa Nowa, coastal walks and a swim at Cape Conran, finished by dinner at the Marlo pub.
Kirsty was so welcoming and easy to communicate with, she let us know the place was ready early as well as offering a late checkout as they didn't have another booking that day. We were greeted with organic chocolate and a bottle of wine. Her generosity was greatly appreciated!

Yellow Mellow Beach Shack was a perfect stay!
The laid back, relaxing feel to this coasty rustic home made our holiday amazing.
We couldn't believe the ocean view and to top it off the sun rises dire...ctly in view from the deck!
The outdoor area was cozy and we loved sitting outside in the egg chair and the grass seating.
No issues here, we had the best time and we will be back!
Walking distance to the lovely Tavern and coffee shop, 10mins from lakes!

We found Yellow Mellow to be very neat, tidy, welcoming and homely. It had everything we needed, including a well-appointed kitchen. Kirsty was very helpful with any query. We highly recommend Yellow Mellow Beach Shack.

Making the most of this beautiful thing we call life. I enjoy the outdoors, hiking and the ocean. Anything peaceful really. My partner and I have always dreamed of running our own riparide. We have just finished renovating our adorable Yellow Mellow Beach Shack located in Lake Tyers Beach, East Gippsland, Victoria. We can't wait to share this little piece of paradise with others.

Lake Tyers and The Gippsland Lakes offer a great range of fishing experiences. From the excitement of crossing the bar at the Entrance and heading out to the open sea, to relaxing in a quiet spot in the upper reaches of the Toorloo Arm in Lake Tyers. In between there is fishing ranging from a tinny to cruising in the yacht.

Waterwheel Beach Tavern
Best tavern views in Victoria. Located at the very end of Lake Tyers Beach Rd, stunning views of both the lake and beach. Delicious food and cold drinks. Whether you want to sit inside or out on the deck, views from anywhere you look.
Dinner At Lake Tyers Beach Tavern
We walked down to Lake Tyers Beach Tavern for dinner. The tavern has beautiful views over the lake and a delicious menu - our favourite was the seafood linguine and crumbed local flathead tails!
Sunset At Lake Tyers Beach
We watched the sun set over Lake Tyers Beach with a picnic dinner, and once it got dark we were lucky enough to see the bioluminescent algae light up the ocean! This phenomenon is quite rare but your best chance of seeing it is later in the summer.
Surfing
Red Bluff is a very popular location with local surfers. It is a small rocky headland that seems to heighten the surf and can provide a good opportunity to catch a wave. Be aware however that the area is unpatrolled and carries a degree of risk even for experienced surfers.
