The River Shack offers a unique experience for time away from the fast lane. The shack is set back from the waters edge in a grove of native bush - this is a dream glamping experience in nature. Explore the river by canoe during the day, before retreating back to the shack to light the fire and watch the light fade.
The River Shack is located in the boat access community of Bar Point; there are no roads , no cars!!!!
Arrival is by water taxi which does make getting here part of the adventure!!! ...Closest mainland village is Brooklyn .... see additional notes below

The shack is set back from the waters edge, in a grove of native bush
There are NO DOORS between the lounge & the rear fireside deck, just blinds that drop down if required
The concept is to enjoy the open space as one
The shack is a minimalistic design but offering more than just the basics
THE COOK'S GALLEY / KITCHEN
Essentially an outdoor space, set below the eaves of the living & the bedroom structures
Blinds are also used in the galley area [ see images ]..sometimes, dropping the blinds by the sink becomes necessary on stormy/windy nights
All is in place for those with a love of cooking

- 2 electric hot plates . small electric oven . hooded BBQ . wood fire
- 2 below counter bar fridges
- german made carbon knives . stainless bowls & utensils
- stainless & cast iron pots . stainless 2 tier steamer pot

The bar counter close to the fire, is a favourite spot to eat as is
The 'workbench' table in the lounge - not forgetting the outdoor table on front deck
Despite there being no formal dining table all is in there to create a beautiful dining setting
THE BEDROOM
Light to streams in from all sides from a band of high windows
Making this room a wonderful space from dawn to dusk
All is in place for a comfortable nights sleep in all temperatures but if you are looking for a bedroom with blackout facilities, then this is not for you

The bathroom is also an INDOOR.OUTDOOR experience
A fan heater can take the chill off on the cool mornings
