Blake's Hut

If you dream of leaving the modern world behind and immersing yourself in the great outdoors, then a stay at 'Blake's Hut' could be just the ticket.

The Hut is located a short drive from Swifts Creek on the Great Alpine Road, in the remote and ruggedly beautiful Tambo Valley. The Hut is an authentic property with the original hut dating back to 1952. It is located on Woodlands farm, an 1,800 acre cattle farm offering homely accommodation and warm hospitality. An hour from Dinner Plain & Mount Hotham and a stone’s throw from the Tambo River and a short drive to the Mitta Mitta and Cobungra Rivers. It’s an ideal base to explore the region’s fantastic cycling, mountain biking, bushwalking, skiing, seasonal white-water rafting & fly fishing. And when you come home, you can enjoy a hot shower, tasty meal, and campfire under a blanket of a million stars.

The Hut is a comfortable and rustic cabin with a wood burning fire. Our remoteness means that mobile reception is limited, ideal for a "digital detox". But with outdoor opportunities galore, you'll want to ditch your phone and immerse yourself in nature.

During your stay you can choose to be completely self-sufficient or visit the local towns of Swifts Creek and Omeo to purchase local produce or eat at a local restaurant. Cook indoors or if you’d prefer to cook outside watching the sun set, you can use the BBQ area, seating 8 people with a large deck overlooking the mountains.

Pets are welcome but we ask that you kindly let us know when booking.

Blake’s Hut was exactly as described. Completely off grid located in a farm property surrounded by mountains and the tambo river. The cows would come and say hello in the mornings and afternoons and p...lenty of room for our dog to run around and explore. Everything you need for a relaxing weekend away. The indoor fireplace was amazing and was really nice to be completely tech/phone free. We will definitely be back!

We stayed at Blake's Hut over the weekend. We were greeted by the lovely sheep upon entering the property :) the hut was very cosy and we stayed close to the firewood heater all evening! The closest towns are Swifts Creek and Omeo which had more than enough supplies. Would gladly come again.

My name is Lily and my husband Tyler and I live in Melbourne with our 1 year old Golden Retriever Raf. We love getting away on weekends, especially to our family farm in Country Victoria. We want to share our unique property with others so they too can experience this beautiful part of the world.

Exploring Omeo

Omeo is a town quite like no other I've come across. It was like walking back in time to a Western story. We had an awesome time exploring the town and make sure you make your way to the cuckoo clock shop and talk to the owner Leonie! She's a real treat!

Pioneer Lookout With Golden Surprises

An easy walk through the bush to find this lookout. Keep your eye out of snakes and shiny rocks friends, aka gold! We didn't see any but the walk does have some long grass about. There's also toilets and other things to do here such as caves, creeks and several bush walks! So pack a picnic and make a day of it!
Rivers

Rivers

For some the lure of the High Country is not in our sweeping alpine vistas, but in the iconic mountain rivers and lakes. The Bundara, Cobungra, Mitta and Victoria Rivers Rivers flow through the picturesque countryside. Find a shady spot under a tree for a picnic and cool off in the pristine waters in summer. Floating around on a lilo or tubing is a popular past time.

Blue Duck Inn

Located super close to the Willows, less than 5 minuted I would say the Blue Duck Inn is a great spot for an afternoon drink and a bite to eat. It's located in a great spot right by the river.

Sunset Picnics

Just a few km's down the road (en route to falls creek) there's plenty of campgrounds to pull into and settle in for a picnic. We enjoyed the running water, the moody sky and yummy lunch here!
