Scribbly Gum cottage is beautiful and rustic, a renovated original settlers cottage relocated to Kangaroo Valley in the 1990's and lovingly restored. There are rural views from every cottage window. Our place is perfect for couples who love a rustic country feel, with a cute little fire pit out the back.
There is nothing better than watching the sunset from our lovely cottage. Kangaroo Valley is known for how bright the stars shine at night.
Our beautiful, rustic cottage also comes with air-conditioning and heating, to help with the cool Winter nights and the heat of Summer - it's perfect all year around! The cottage comes with basic kitchen amenities, as well as some of our lovely fresh, free-range eggs.
The property is surrounded by amazing views of the Kangaroo Valley escarpment, which is particularly picturesque in the evenings. There is a rural view from each cottage window over our farm and the neighbouring property.
You have your own space around the cottage and a paved area outside with a fire pit. There is off-street parking right next to the cottage.
Inside the cottage, there are basic amenities including a bathroom and kitchenette as well as a bedroom and lounge/ dining and kitchen area.
The kitchen includes basic cooking facilities, there is a single hot plate, microwave, fridge, and sink. There is also a bbq outside!
There is air conditioning and heating, and the cottage is fully insulated and electric blanket for winter.

Additional Information
*Checkin details will be sent either the night before checking in, or the morning of check-in for security reasons.
*We are a working farm, we have 8000 chickens that produce lovely eggs in a true free range set up. Our girls are moved onto fresh grass twice a week to allow them the best access to grass, bugs and new places to explore. We used to have them at home, but now the livestock part of the farm is a few kms down the road.
*We do run the processing component of the farm from the big shed you pass on the way in. This means there are always people coming and going, although every care is taken to minimise disturbance to the cottage.
*If you want to know more about our little farm you can see us online at Kangaroo Valley Pastured Eggs!
*There is a large mulch pile at the start of the driveway. We also run Delicious Gardens, Kangaroo Valley. Our gardeners will make sure that disturbance is minimal, however, it should be noted that you may see some of our friendly staff near the mulch pile!
*We have a lovely farm dog called Indi, as well as two young goats. They may pass the cottage when in the yard. They are all super friendly, and we welcome you to say hello to all our farm animals!
*Due to the recent reports of Foot and Mouth Disease, we ask all international guests to follow the Biosecurity Rules of the Government. This is usually indicated on your Visa details as part of the requirements. We love our farm animals and try to look after them as much as possible!
* We only provide 1 set of keys for each stay. We do not have extra sets.
*Please note that you are making a reservation for a refurbished, rustic, original cottage. Despite a few contemporary conveniences, this house offers an opportunity to unwind in the great outdoors and escape from the outside world.

Thanks for the stay. The cottage was just perfect for our weekend away. I'd highly recommend it to anyone else looking for a place to stay in Kangaroo Valley. Great selection on DVDs by the way, made getting cozy that much more special.

There is so much around to do an explore, but my Wife and I love coming here to switch off and reset. It is our cheap ,silent, peaceful and revitalizing getaway.
Do you want all the mod cons, night l...ife, noise, entertainment and partying?
Not for you.
If you want a cozy, rustic cabin that feels like your tired soul's home, paired with the option of exploring the vast adventures and cool shops that surround you.
Definitely do it!
This was our second time and we'll be back at least annually.

Welcome to Getawayz NSW. My name is James and I am the Managing Director!
Getawayz NSW was created by myself when I worked in the corporate world. There were so many times in my corporate life where I would be sitting at my desk thinking “just get me away”! I had a few investment properties that I had just put on Airbnb and I was being thanked almost every day for helping people with their dream holidays! I created spaces with love and detail. For me, it’s not only about the location but also about the space and the small touches. I thought there must have been a gap in the market for premium accommodation services with professionals that do not have time to share their beautiful homes.
My aim is to provide the most luxurious experiences for all my guests. From the moment they open the door, I want there to be a wow factor! Whether it be a bad day at work, months in lockdown over COVID-19, or anything in between with the struggles that the last 2 years have bought us, Getawayz NSW is a pun on “get me away” - but not just to anywhere, but to one of the best homes in NSW. Once you have stayed at one of my properties, I want the first thing to be is when you return home is wanting to book with Getawayz NSW again!
Getawayz NSW offers some of the most premium inner-city homes, beautiful country cottages, luxury eco-cabins to grand homesteads as well as some of NSW’s most gorgeous beach homes.
I (James, the Managing Director) have never been one to feel boxed in or be put in a box - I like to think outside the box! I wanted to create a brand that shows no matter what you are after in NSW, Getawayz will be able to give you a premium offering no matter what the area. Whether it’s beach, bush, or city life - we have the best homes available to offer!

Cross The Bridge Behind Pioneer Village Museum
Behind The Pioneer Village Museum is a long suspension bridge and a lovely bushwalk which was perfect for kids. We had so much excitement while crossing the bridge, finding paper daisies and moss on granite, and checking out potential wombat homes we came across, there are little signs on the trees to keep you from getting lost
The Pioneer Village Museum In Kangaroo Valley
Enjoy a bush walk, picnic, stroll around the museum and delve into some history of the the valley. Showcasing not only original and replica 19th and early 20th century buildings stocked with artefacts from each era and interactive displays giving you plenty of information.
Swim In Kangaroo River
To top off a day of exploring, we came across Kangaroo River what else do you do other than jump in. Word of warning, it's not warm (check facial expressions and speed of exit), but when you have an indoor fireplace waiting for you back at The Barn Cottage, why not?
Under The Bridge
Right underneath the famous Heritage Hampden bridge is a walk down to the creek. Super simple and nice walk, right on the edge of town.
Kangaroo Valley Pie Shop
It's true when they say "World's Best Pies". Best I've ever had!
