The award-winning Red Rocks Mountain Retreat is positioned near the top of the Cambewarra range at an elevation of 590m and located 6.42km off Moss Vale Road along an unsealed gravel and dirt road that passes through the temperate rainforest, dry shrub and old growth forest of the Cambewarra Nature Reserve. [Please note the unsealed gravel and dirt road is OK for 2WD cars and an adventure in itself, however with a few undulations, we do not recommend very low clearance cars.]

What an amazing place!
So peaceful and quiet. The house was so beautiful and that view is just spectacular! We were worried that the house was going to be cold during the night but once that fireplace... got cranking, we were nice and cozy. And the electric blankets on the bed were an added bonus.
The drive in was an adventure. Was a bit gnarly and there was a few times where I turned to my partner and said ‘thank god we brought the Ute’ but we did just have a bit of rain so that can effect none sealed roads. We didn’t need to put the Ute in 4WD, so a 2WD car would be totally fine, but a lower clearing car (like an i30 or Tesla etc) is probably a no-no.
Will definitely come back in the future, maybe when our son is a little older.
Highly recommend.

We had the best time at Red Rocks Mountain Retreat. From the moment we arrived to our last coffee before leaving, we enjoyed every second.
Driving in, our breath was taken away by the view and the co...mplete peace of being surrounded by forest. The cabin itself felt like the perfect mix of cosy and luxury — a true escape.
Inside, every detail had been thought through. The kitchen was fully stocked and clearly labelled (which was surprisingly helpful), and we were welcomed with thoughtful touches like Easter eggs, plus cheese and crackers. There was more than enough firewood for our entire stay, and the fireplace kept the whole cabin warm and incredibly cosy even in the cold weather.
The bedroom was warm and comfortable, and both the indoor shower and outdoor bath were highlights — amazing water pressure and beautiful views through the window, plus the outdoor bath was just incredible. I used it straight away!
The property felt completely private. Surrounded by woods, we didn’t see another person the entire stay. One of our favourite moments was taking the picnic rug provided and sitting out on the rock overlooking the cliff — such a peaceful, beautiful spot.
We stayed with our Border Collie, and it was perfect for him too. They provided dog bowls and poop bags, and he loved playing fetch outside and then curling up by the fire.
Everything was seamless with self-check-in via lockbox and clear directions — we didn’t need to contact the hosts at all.
We would absolutely stay again and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful, cosy getaway in nature (especially if you’re bringing your dog).

Amazing View At Red Rocks Trig Lookout
Adjacent our property is Red Rocks Trig Point lookout. Its a relaxing 2.4km hike/walk/bike ride from our Mountain Retreat with sensational views over Kangaroo Valley. Pack a rug/champagne to watch the beautiful sunsets or on some mornings it feels like you could step onto the cloud carpet.
Kangaroo Valley Lookout
Just a short walk from the carpark, this lookout had incredible panoramic views. We arrived mid morning when there was still low cloud sitting in the valley!
Authentic Italian Dinner At Ostria La Vallata
We strolled across the golf course at sunset for an Authentic Italian feast. The restaurant, service, food, and views were all equally epic!
Kayak From Hampton Bridge To Bundeela
A cruisy paddle down the river starting under the Hampton Bridge and making your way down to Bendeela camp ground. There are a few small rapids to enjoy and plenty of creatures along the banks. Was a great service at the holiday haven Kangaroo Valley. Talk to Ian, he is a true local.
Ride Around The Valley
Go as far as you want, because you will never get sick of the views. We rode for about 20 kilometres through some pristine farmland and lush forest areas.
Best Coffee In Kangaroo Valley
KV Coffee Co is the go-to spot in Kangaroo Valley for an amazing coffee. They’ve got top-quality beans and a friendly vibe. It’s the perfect place to fuel up before exploring or relax in their lush outdoor area.
