What a cute house and beautiful garden! The setting of Blackwood House is lovely and the decking and garden rooms and outdoor shower make the place a lot of fun. There are a few details which where... our family thinks the mark was missed....
Just be aware, if you are hoping for a really comfortable bed, you will likely be 'sorely' disappointed. Both beds were as hard as rocks and definitely not in keeping with the 'minimal luxe' vibe. So take your own plush mattress toppers for each bed, because when asked, apparently the beds are of the 'highest standard' (a quick look under the sheet showed minimal cushioning though).
The 'wet room' bathroom needs a caution - make sure you have your birks on after someone has showered, otherwise you will end up with very wet socks or feet. The open shower is a little 'too open' where it's part of the only toilet/ bathroom for the house - beautiful as it is. Keeping the provided shower mat from being dripping wet was a job in itself and we were happy we were there in summertime!
A proper sized broom for the house would be a sensible addition too... even when sandy feet are washed off, the sand comes into the house and the the tiny dust pan and broom for the pot belly fire makes a mockery of keeping things clean - we are not on 'cinderella' duty!
A little bit more privacy from the adjoining properties with some fence screening and shrubs along the fence line would be a nice touch too ... the property is definitely one where you want to lounge around in your togs but you might not want to do it in full display of the neighbours.
So, yes, we would recommend a stay at Blackwood House as there are many really lovely and thoughtful details about the property but we want others to have a good handle on what was great and what could be improved, to round out the quality of the experience.

Great space the back yard was fantastic to relax and soak all the sun. In side was a little small but the outside more than makes up for it.

Here are some details about the adventures nearby. Refer to the map for their location.
Chase The Sunset
Head to one of the more westerly facing beaches to catch those golden rays across the ocean at sundown.
No 16 Beach
This picturesque spot with clay coloured cliffs and soft sand is the perfect spots to watch the wild ocean and get your ocean therapy. At low tide you can spot the Dragon's Head rock formation.
No 16 Hidden Clifftops
Number 16 Beach has a beautiful sandy beach to walk along, but also an easily missed track to some wild clifftop views. Such an ace spot to watch the waves roll in and smash against the cliffs. When you arrive at the car park walk back to near the entrance you'll find a gate that leads to the cliffs.
Dimmicks Coastal Walk
We strolled the lush coastal walk to Dimmicks Beach admiring the wildness of this secluded Mornington back beach. We sat on timber bench chair, mesmerised by the rough swell crashing against the rugged rock formations forming pools and mini water falls.
Blairgowrie Back Beach
The wild side of the Peninsula has beaches aplenty with rockpools and rocky outcrops that meet the sand and waves. Year round these beaches make an exciting spot to visit.
Sunset At Tyrone Beach
It's the bay beach at the end of Flinders St. Lovely family friendly beach with nice walk through the teas trees and plenty of cute bathing boxes. There was no one there so we could have our own moment! The sunset was unbelievable.
