Take in the calm serenity of French Island National Park from the comfort of our brand new tiny house situated on a very spacious and scenic area of a 70 hectare property. French Island is Victoria's largest coastal island and promises a truly remote and unforgettable experience. You may wish to go hiking, fishing, sit on the beach, explore the National Park or wildlife watching (birds, koalas, echidnas, potoroos). Choose your own adventure on this unique island.

This is one of two tiny houses on the property. The tiny houses are 100 metres apart and not visible from one another. There is a private house on the property but a reasonable distance away and cannot be seen from the tiny house.

Great accom and facilities!

10/10

Bring enough food for meals each day on the run and dinners each night!

It’s a great space so take full advantage.

If you’re planning on having lunch at the w...inery they only serve charcuterie. Hot food is only every now and then (fair enough)

General store is a great place for a coffee before you set off on the day, but again, hot food like pub meals are every now and then so plan ahead!

We’ve just returned home after two wonderful nights on French Island at Russ’s Tiny Houses. We booked both houses while travelling with another couple, which worked perfectly — we could share daytime ...adventures and evening meals together, then retreat to our own private, peaceful spaces. The balance of togetherness and seclusion was ideal.
Each tiny house is beautifully designed and exceptionally well appointed. Russ has truly thought of everything — from the Nespresso machine and milk frother to the mozzie zapper, outdoor bath, fire pit with kindling and firewood, and many thoughtful little touches that made our stay effortless and comfortable.
The location is stunning and wonderfully secluded, with sunset views over the mainland at the front and National Park wilderness stretching out behind. We brought our car over on the barge and had a fantastic time exploring the island. We loved the abundant wildlife and birdlife, the serenity, and visiting French Island Winery, Mandalaye Park Estate and the General Store.
If you’re looking to escape crowds, this is the perfect destination — even in peak holiday season. We walked along Fairhaven Beach without seeing another soul, and only passed one small group at the Pinnacles Lookout. The locals were warm and welcoming, and we enjoyed hearing their stories.
We highly recommend Russ’s Tiny Houses and the whole French Island experience. We’ll definitely be back.

With a population of only around 130 people, French Island is a small tight-knit community on a very large island! It is the largest coastal island in Victoria. 70% of the island is National Park. The island runs completely off the grid with no mains water or electricity. We hope you enjoy French Island as much as we do!

Starting at the general store, we walked the road along "Koala Alley" seeing heaps of koalas with no one around. Ask at the general store and they will give you a map.
