This privately owned Dargo property offers a secluded hideaway in Victoria’s remote Alpine mountain ranges. Camp under the walnut trees, swim in the pristine Dargo river, sit by the campfire, have a steaming bath under the stars, fall asleep to the sound of the river, wake up to your own private fishing spot and brew a pot of tea or fresh coffee.

In a remote location simple pleasures are more heavily felt. Free from the distractions of modern life it is an opportunity to connect with partners, children and friends. Improved well-being , mood and sleep are some of the other recognized benefits of camping in the wilderness. One study concluded campers after sleeping away from artificial light for a week had reset their circadian rhythms and were less tired.

Sitting in between the walnut trees the 5m bell tent creates an ambient and roomy camping experience. Perfect for a romantic haven.

LUXE TENT DETAILS
Comfortable bedding, linen, high quality pillows, camp lanterns, rugs and a small table and chairs. Outside we provide cooking facilities including a bbq, gas two burner stove, tables and chairs and all eating and cooking provisions (just bring your food and esky).

BATHROOM
The bathroom amenities include flushing toilet (new and clean). Outdoor shower available.

BED OPTIONS
Tents can be either set up with a queen bed, or a queen bed and two king single mattresses. Please note that all campers are guaranteed total privacy as the property is only rented out to one booking at a time. We will set up prior to your arrival and pack down after you depart.

Phoebe provided a great camping experience for first timers. We lacked for nothing, the tent was gorgeous, the outdoor bath was very relaxing and the eating area has everything you need. You will not ...need to bring any camping equipment of your own, it almost felt like cheating. Who am I kidding, it was cheating. The location is gorgeous, with a beautiful river next to the campsite.

Thanks Phoebe and John for another great stay last weekend. Three years since we last visited and it's even more special with all the work you've done. So much to keep the adults and kids entertaine...d with the river, fishing, games etc. Three families were first time visitors and were blown away with the location - we already want to book again!

Your tent is located beside the Dargo River. An amazing place to go fishing with mountains and wilderness surrounding you from all angles. Fly fish for brown trout, blackfish, Australian grayling, mountain galaxias, congoli, common galaxias and eels.

The pristine Dargo River flows through the property. Its crystal clear waters is the perfect place for a dip in the warmer months, or grab a cold drink and plonk a deck char in the river.

Mountain Bike Riding

The Dargo Climb is probably Victoria's second-toughest sealed climb, after the infamous Mount Baw Baw. A combination of very steep, irregular gradients, a rough (though sealed) road surface, relatively little shade, and the position of its toughest section near the top, make it a very tough challenge.

The Dargo hillclimb begins a few kilometres north of Dargo, Victoria, on the Dargo High Plains Road. The climb is easy to find, as there is only one sealed road in to and out of Dargo.

Mitchell River Walking Track

From river to gorge top, the semi-remote Mitchell River Walking Track follows the west bank of the river downstream from Angusvale through the Den of Nargun gorge, which is lined with remnants of temperate rainforest. There are spectacular views from the river to the top of the gorge. (One hour drive from camp site)
