It was a very peaceful spot. The fire tub was amazing despite the cold air, it really relaxed us and left us feeling very warm. The new kitchen area is very practical, looks nice, and the lights make ...for a very good ambiance. Just watch how much power you use if the day is overcast or you’ll run the battery down. The night sky is very bright, and you can see a lot of stars which is nice. The tent and bed were very warm. Overall a really nice place to spend a night or two.

We had a pleasant stay in some respects, but overall we were left disappointed due to a significant disconnect between the listing description and the reality of the camp.
The main issue was the acce...ss to the lake. The listing stated the accommodation was right on the lake with a short walk to the water, however the access involved going down a very steep, unpaved and overgrown hill covered in loose rocks. Once at the bottom, we were then faced with a barbed wire fence that we were told by the owner we needed to jump over. This felt unsafe and was not something we were comfortable doing. In the end, if you actually want to swim in the lake, you need to drive about 10 minutes down the road to the public access point, which was lovely — but not what was advertised.
The camp is advertised as pet friendly, however there were no cooling options such as a fan for pets, and the available power points were limited to charging mobile phones only. Even if we had brought our own fan, we wouldn’t have been able to use it due to power restrictions.
Facilities also fell short in a few areas. The shower and toilet did not have a door. While the view was nice, a door would have provided much-needed privacy, especially for couples or groups sharing the space. Glasses and cups were dirty on arrival, and the dishwashing liquid was empty with no brush or sponge provided to clean anything ourselves.
The hot tub water was murky with sand sitting at the bottom, which made it uninviting to use. The fairy lights inside the tent were not working, which took away from the atmosphere that was advertised.
Cooking was another challenge. With a current fire ban in place, if we hadn’t brought our own cooking equipment, we wouldn’t have been able to prepare food at all. Despite the owner stating that cooking utensils are provided when we queried, this consisted of a single spatula that was filthy and covered in black grease, along with a small saucepan that was also heavily baked on with grime. The steel grill provided was completely rusted, making it unusable.
The road from the gate to the tent is very rocky and steep (as mentioned in the listing), which is worth being very prepared for, especially if arriving in a low-clearance vehicle.
That said, there were some genuine positives. The view from the top of the hill is beautiful. The bed was very comfortable, and the linen and blankets were good quality. The fridge worked well and kept everything nice and cold. The interior of the tent itself was nicely presented and clearly cared for. We appreciated the board games, the outdoor table and chairs, the umbrella for sun protection, and the comfortable lounger chairs.
Sam, the host, was very responsive to our texts and calls, which we appreciated, although unfortunately the issues raised couldn’t be accommodated during our stay.
Overall, this could be a great glamping experience with some improvements and more accurate listing information. Clearer descriptions, better cleaning, safer access to the lake, and properly equipped facilities would go a long way toward meeting guest expectations.

The glorious shores of Lake Eildon lap at the edge of the tiny township of Bonnie Doon. The lake afterall is the heart of this place. Go for a dip, paddle or kayak - or befriend someone with a boat and get out there on the wake!
Watching Sunrise At Lake Eildon
Lake Eildon is stretching along several towns. We drove there for the sunrise and were amazed by the spectacular views.
