The Alpine region has always held a special place in our hearts, so when it came time to celebrate our engagement, there was nowhere else we’d rather be. With our love of the outdoors, nature, and adv...enture, Hop Hall Cottage felt like the perfect place to create memories we’ll cherish forever.

From the moment we found Hop Hall, its idyllic location drew us in—but it exceeded every expectation. Shuchin and Rob have truly thought of everything. Every little detail has been carefully considered, making the cottage feel warm, welcoming, and effortlessly comfortable. It has everything you could possibly need, allowing you to simply relax and soak in the beauty around you.

Perfectly positioned, the cottage is close enough to explore everything the region has to offer, yet tucked away on its own peaceful acreage, giving you the wonderful feeling of complete privacy and serenity. Waking to the chorus of birds, listening to the frogs around the lagoon, and spending time with the resident donkey and goat—who were incredibly gentle and always eager for a pat—made our stay feel truly magical.

We enjoyed wandering through Myrtleford for supplies and a leisurely stroll, stopped by the Ovens pubs for delicious counter meals (and a convenient Tesla charge), and ventured out to Eurobin to visit the Red Stag. Every day offered something special, yet returning to Hop Hall each evening was always the highlight.

Our weekend was everything we had hoped for and more. It was peaceful, romantic, and unforgettable—the perfect place to celebrate such a special milestone. We couldn’t recommend Hop Hall Cottage more highly and can’t wait to return to this little slice of paradise.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at hop hall cottage, which had everything we needed and is set on an absolutely beautiful property! Our host was lovely, helpful and responsive. We especially loved the ...outdoor bath, which we used on both nights of our stay. There is so much to see and do in the local area, we visited brown brothers winery, reed and co distillery, Pepo’s farm, Red stag and emu farm, and many more fantastic places! The onsite bikes were a nice addition too, enjoyed during an early morning bike ride😊 thanks so much for having us!

My husband and I spent three lovely nights at Hop Hall Cottage. The cottage itself is perfectly fitted for a couple. Super comfortable and wonderful views of the garden. We really took advantage of th...e outdoor tub. The hosts themselves were great - very responsive and thoughtful (left some kind goodies upon our arrival). The location of the cottage is ideal for those wanting to explore the Alpine region. A short drive from two towns and less than an hour to from Mt Buffalo (peak), Dinners Plains and Mt Hotham. Highly recommend!

I’m Shu-Chin,a nature lover who is happiest when I’m out in the garden fiddling with my fruit trees and plants. I usually start my days with a bushwalk to take everything in before the world gets busy. When I’m not outdoors, I’m usually inside painting or tinkering on my piano. My pet donkey and goat—they are a happy duo who love cuddles and are always curious about what everyone is up to.

Questionable Baking

Facing a rainy day, I decided to get creative in the kitchen with some experiment baking in the conventional oven. I had enough ingredients to bake up some kind of banana muffiny-looking thing, so I went for it.

Flour. Egg. Banana. Sugar. Butter. Milk. Baking Powder.
Turned out better than I expected and tasted pretty darn good!

Styled with some raspberries, I sat outside during the rain break and took in the rest of that Autumn day!

Patting A Donkey

The property has a very friendly donkey who loves pats and selfies - and a not so friendly goat but I still went in for a pat with him too! Ha! He likes to head butt a bit.

Fresh Berry Picking

Along the way from Melbourne to Freeburgh, we pulled over to buy some farm fresh berries. We could pick our own, and had the juiciest sweetest raspberries from a local farm. They were so friendly and the berries were delicious, but picking them ourselves was the best part.
